Or it's like them calling his bluff in a massive way. They've awarded him a prize for his intentions, not his actions. Now there's that much more pressure on him to follow up on his intentions. They've called him out in a weird sort of way, now the spotlight is on him even more to act. It's not all going to be mere words and speeches anymore.
Maybe that was their real reason.
It depends on how much O cares about getting the peace prize. If he doesn't give a shit he can continue doing what he wants. If he does, well, then he's not really going to escalate the Afghan war by sending in tens of thousands of more troops is he. All of that is bigger than some silly prize.
