@Don.
His good but i've heard alot better... those are pretty basic sweeps, very clean sound, but simple fingering

Simple fingering indeed, but the speed and accuracy! It sounds like an 8-bit Nintendo-game.Little BaBy JESUS wrote:

Haha yer. My band just recently recorded our EP. The guitar solo in one of our songs is absolutely amazing, but our guitarist cant get it anywhere near as clean live. He did like each sweep individually lol till he got every sweep perfect. ill post the solo when its been mastered, its got some pretty awesome (and hard fingering) sweeps.DonFck wrote:

That being said, I've watched a few live performances of the same song on J00tueb, and the man doesn't come close to what he does on the studio recording. Wonder how many takes and cut'n'paste is involved?
I definitely want to hear it!Little BaBy JESUS wrote:

Lol nice. We basically forced our guitarist to learn to sweep. He wanted to, he just needed alittle encouragementDonFck wrote:

I can't sweep for shit. I'm a rhythm guitarist, so as long as I have a sense of style, tempo, fast "machine gun" open string and palm-muting and the odd pinch harmonics, I'm good to go.
Having the ability to be fast and coordinated enough on my left hand craves more practise than I have time for, but if only I got it overnight..
I want sharing too! Need to learn to toy around with my new Canon K-Mart, since you do plenty of photoing, do you have any good pointers? Didn't you post some educational video for n00bs once?Kmarion wrote:

Yes, trial and error . Ultrafunksmell try this program http://www.breezesys.com/DSLRRemotePro/index.htm, pretty neat. Did you join our flickr group?Ultrafunkula wrote:

1. Get yourself the Canon TC-80N3 timer-release.
2. Quicktime Pro (yeah, It's what I use.. none of this fancy Adobe Premier )
Exposure Length and Frame Interval:
Preplanning for this is crucial. What interval did you use between each frame, and how long was the exposure time for each frame? For a cloudy day, with a little bit of wind, you should be aiming to get an exposure of around 1-2 seconds.
But minty dude, won't things like tree branches be blurred?
Why yes, they will. When put together, the image sequence will appear to move smoothly. Much like the individual frames of a movie are blurry, but when put together they project smoothe motion.
Now, in order to get that nice smoothe flowing motion, I suggest that the maximum interval between taking one frame and taking the next is double the exposure time. So, for example: 2 second exposure should be taken every 4 seconds.. So the camera is taking a frame for 2 seconds, resting for two, taking a frame for two, etc etc.
This of course will give you 15 frames a minute. So for 1 second of footage, you need to shoot for 1.6 minutes.
Putting It Together
I usually import the images into Lightroom, where I do some minor changes (usually with the blacks and contrast) before exporting them at the correct size to be 1080p or 720p videos.
Once I have a folder of numbered images, I go into Quicktime Pro and hit "Import image sequence" and set the frame rate to "24 frames/sec". Then it is a simple matter of exporting it as a .mov file, before uploading it to the internet.
Finished Product:
In this example, 1/4 second exposures are being taken without any gap. As such, motion appears to be smooth and very fluid. And yes, I am driving on the correct side of the road
