I did mention specifically that the example I mentioned was far less extravagant or a shitty, tacky marketing, depending on your pov. Way to ignore and or misinterpret the major message of my post and latch onto a small part of it. The point was all 'stock' games came with large boxes with plenty of box art, not just the 'special' editions, and many came with a few little extras thrown in. Pewter figurines are another example.Mekstizzle wrote:
Obvious reply is obvious. You could've at least commented and tried to explain how or why your high fantasy role playing game Cloth map is more exciting and "crazy" than a pair of Night Vision Goggles from a Warfare game.Miggle wrote:

Holy shit, a cloth map! Well that's a hundred times more crazy to put in a box than Night Vision goggles. You're right, shit ain't what it used to be! Damn, a cloth map! Outrageous
Video games suck these days!
I'm going to kill myself.
I'm not trying to sound like some sort of CoD fanboy xbox yankee douchebag, cos I actually think that MW2 looks like balls with all its James Bond shit and it's a step too far away from the CoD series I've known since CoD 1.
But come on, fucking Baldurs Gate. Fucking Cloth map. Get the fuck out of a BF2 forum
Shitty NVGs that don't work properly being considered proper 'prestige edition' material? I guess they are pandering to the lowest common denominator again. Ah well, this is Activision-Blizz, and their CEO basically said this would be the marketing strategy from now on.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
