Although I'd rather spend under 200euro, somewhere around 150E.

Would also like to hear some feedback from people who own an SSD.
I am currently owning a 150GB WD Raptor. I'm interested how much I would actually benefit from an SSD.

Thanks

Do you really need it now?

Why dont you wait for Windows 7 to come out and then get one, saving you a reinstall.

Also, by then the performance of SSD's will have gone up, and the prices down!

There is some news of a new, larger capacity chip coming out around December time which will be used in all new SSD's, driving price drops.

Can you wait?!

I suggest you wait jsut a bit for the 34nm Intel drives. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Priced about 220€ tho. But its worth it.

I hear they'll be officially released on Tuesday.

I won't be installing Win7 when its released.

Performance is always going up and prices down, I could wait forever then. I think price/performance ratio is very decent nowadays, could not say the same for last year's SSD offer where you had to spend 500E+ for a decent SSD.

60GB is perfect for my needs- OS + 1 or 2 games that I will play online + Programs (around 10GB)

The 80GB 34nm one from Intel costs about 215€ in preorder atm.

+ You really want a drive that doesn't slow down when not having TRIM. (win7 feature, to be added in SSDs any day)

Intels are known for lasting good without  it.

It refers to Intels current top model, X25-E series

A single level cell X25-E model is also available with faster I/O rates and 32GB and 64GB capacities. Prices range from around $350 to upwards of $800 depeding on model and capacity.

List of stores that have pre.orders for them. I do suggest you wait couple days before ordering tho, its good to be careful and see some reviews first.

Regular OCZ Vertex is pretty good atm. But I do think its getting facepalms when the Postville Intels come.

I don't think it's worth the money TBH. I mean, I know that the benchmarks are though the roof, but does it transfer into real-world performance? I remember seeing a SSD vs Raptor test some time back. It seemed to load things a few seconds faster, but IMO it isn't worth the massive amount of money for it. For now, I think SSDs are only really worth getting when:
1) You have a Core i7 Extreme 12GB DDR3 Quad SLi rape machine, and the only thing that could be faster is the HDD (this could be you though, I don't know your specs) or
2) You have a laptop and are concerned about power usage/vibrations/head crashes/etc.

The SSD in my laptop is noticeably faster than the HDDs in my desktops.  For example, Zune software is pretty bloated and takes a while to load when you have 4500+ songs.  There's maybe a 5-10 second delay when I open the program on my desktop, but it opens almost instantly on the laptop with the same amount of songs.

Just get bigger than 64GB if you can... it fills up a lot faster than you might imagine!  I'm kicking myself because now I need an external HDD for the laptop and it doesn't support eSATA.

Well I plan on running the 80GB with 2x Samsung F1 1TBs and prolly investing in 1TB external if needed later too.
