I said clearly, that you speak as if Islamic intolerance, and violence is some rare anomaly in the world, it isn't. you seemed to agree and I was glad.
But it is some rare anomaly ... and that was what I said bingo too

And Sharia law is not the general guidelines in Islam, very few apply and live by those laws ...
Sharia law is the basis of Islam. How you have Islam without it I dunno.

and as far as you thinking intolerance and violence in Islam is rare, that is pure denial on your part. Something I can't help.

There is such a thing as reform Islam.  There are also plenty of liberal Muslims that have adapted their religion to fit better with modern life.

You see the same thing with Christianity and Judaism.

Every major religion has a wide spectrum of followers, with orthodox people on one extreme and liberal reformists on the other.  In general, the reformists are the people best suited for modern life and get along with modern society equally as well as the non-religious.  It's the orthodox ones you have to watch out for, because they often hold beliefs that conflict with freedom and social equality.

Of course you would, those durn'd mooselems r takin' over!

This is the exact type of response I've come to expect from a defeated lowing.

You were hypocritcal in your remark and you choose to selectively apply your so called "ideals". Way to go.

Hell, even usmarine is against you here. That speaks volumes.
I really do not care who is with me or ar against me in my opinions, I am not keeping score.
I do not want my society catering to Islam in any way shape or form, period. Is it a paradox, yes, have I admitted my hypocrisy, yes. However, current events dictates my attitude toward Islam and its representatives in this country. CAIR.
CAIR is definitely a problem, but probably the best course of action would be to get liberal Muslims to speak out against CAIR.  Plenty of Muslims living here don't have the same agenda as CAIR and are disgusted by political opportunism.  You see the same thing with black people that are sick of the NAACP and race baiters like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

What needs to happen is for these moderates to speak up, so that people like yourself don't confuse these activists with being the average member of their group.  It's understandable that you would get this negative impression of Muslims from CAIR, but you have to realize that moderates aren't the kind of people that usually make a big stink about things.

Only problem is, it was the people you call "moderates" that exploded all over the scene with violent protest because of all things, they were dipicted as violent.

That depends.  It is possible that some moderates were insulted enough by being depicted as violent that they protested.  However, if they chose to be violent in their protests, then they are not moderates to begin with.

A moderate is someone who shuns acting violently over being offended.

To your point, however, there are probably many Muslims that believe they are moderate but whose actions clearly contradict this belief.

yeah yeah yeah, and a child molerster isn't a child molester until he does so and a murder isn't a murder until he kills. Saying that Muslims are moderates until they are not ( in this case be being stirred into a frenzy over a cartoon) is not saying very much.

They are trying to put the squeeze on us all to the point where we beg them to to help us. Then, here they are saving the day ( percieved) and are viewed as heroes with all of their govt. relief programs.

Does this mean that if a bunch of Christians committed a terrible act of terrorism in the US on Christmas day you'd want Christmas celebrations to be forever banned all across America?

Nope they represent the views ( or so they say) in America, along with their special consideration pursuits.

the actions done in the name of Islam, in entire nations, and in Islamic govts., the WORLD WIDE violence regarding cartoons, and the utter silence by the moderates, along with their hero worship of a murderer and child molester, takes care of the rest.
Oops.

If I say I represent all of Australia, does it make it true?

CAIR represents CAIR. No-one elected them the spokesperson of Muslims in Australia.

---

A little story. Immediately after 9/11, the local mosque in Canberra organized a memorial service/function - the first of its kind, across any religious denomination. Primary purpose: to show that Muslims were as shocked and horrified by the actions of those terrorists as anyone else.

Journalists were invited and came... and not a single story appeared, anywhere.

The media would rather tear a religion to pieces than talk about its adherents with any degree of moderation. You'll never hear about the moderates, because frankly, they aren't newsworthy.

---

But of course, you'll dismiss all this by saying the Muslims weren't "true" adherents to Islam (and you know this how since you've never shown any inclination of contact with a Muslim, or ever studied Islam apart from conservative blogs dedicated to painting it as a work of pure evil?), and that Muslims =/= Islam. An entirely false distinction, but whatever. Convenient, it allows you to debase a religion and absolves you from ever talking to its adherents and bringing up your concerns with them.
My concerns are their actions solely, it was not terrorists that turned violent regarding cartoons it was your average believer in Islam. It is sharia law that governs Islam, and that pretty much speaks for itself.

Also there is plenty of Muslims out there that show Islam for what it is, why do you not believe them?
Because no Muslim I have ever met or talked to has spouted anti-American vitriol, been a wife-beater or partaken in anti-cartoon protests.

Nope, I would not be interested in appeasing Islam by changing our traditions and customs to show weakness toward it.

Bottom line man, its one of the largest religions on earth so the schools are giving the day off.

Stop being a douche bag and realize that "our enemy" is a small percentage of Muslims.

I saw a picture of Bin Laden and he had brown hair. Fuck people with brown hair. Do you breath air? So do the terrorists. You should probably kill yourself.
