Sharia law is the basis of Islam. How you have Islam without it I dunno.

and as far as you thinking intolerance and violence in Islam is rare, that is pure denial on your part. Something I can't help.

I do not want my society catering to Islam in any way shape or form, period. Is it a paradox, yes, have I admitted my hypocrisy, yes. However, current events dictates my attitude toward Islam and its representatives in this country. CAIR.

CAIR is definitely a problem, but probably the best course of action would be to get liberal Muslims to speak out against CAIR.  Plenty of Muslims living here don't have the same agenda as CAIR and are disgusted by political opportunism.  You see the same thing with black people that are sick of the NAACP and race baiters like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

What needs to happen is for these moderates to speak up, so that people like yourself don't confuse these activists with being the average member of their group.  It's understandable that you would get this negative impression of Muslims from CAIR, but you have to realize that moderates aren't the kind of people that usually make a big stink about things.

FACT: A huge majority of the gold that was stored underneith the twin towers was removed from the towers in the days before the attack.
1.3 billion worth. Only 230 million recovered.

That depends.  It is possible that some moderates were insulted enough by being depicted as violent that they protested.  However, if they chose to be violent in their protests, then they are not moderates to begin with.

A moderate is someone who shuns acting violently over being offended.

To your point, however, there are probably many Muslims that believe they are moderate but whose actions clearly contradict this belief.

A little story. Immediately after 9/11, the local mosque in Canberra organized a memorial service/function - the first of its kind, across any religious denomination. Primary purpose: to show that Muslims were as shocked and horrified by the actions of those terrorists as anyone else.

Journalists were invited and came... and not a single story appeared, anywhere.

The media would rather tear a religion to pieces than talk about its adherents with any degree of moderation. You'll never hear about the moderates, because frankly, they aren't newsworthy.

But of course, you'll dismiss all this by saying the Muslims weren't "true" adherents to Islam (and you know this how since you've never shown any inclination of contact with a Muslim, or ever studied Islam apart from conservative blogs dedicated to painting it as a work of pure evil?), and that Muslims =/= Islam. An entirely false distinction, but whatever. Convenient, it allows you to debase a religion and absolves you from ever talking to its adherents and bringing up your concerns with them.

My concerns are their actions solely, it was not terrorists that turned violent regarding cartoons it was your average believer in Islam. It is sharia law that governs Islam, and that pretty much speaks for itself.


Also there is plenty of Muslims out there that show Islam for what it is, why do you not believe them?

Because no Muslim I have ever met or talked to has spouted anti-American vitriol, been a wife-beater or partaken in anti-cartoon protests.
