Hello there! I've been looking at where I can visit in the US/Canada whilst I'm there next year, and I've discovered the magic of the Discovery bus pass, which I might add is really fucking cheap. Now the question I have for y'all is; where should I use it to go to? Downside of this is my longest vacation is Christmas, and is only 3 weeks long and the weather will be cold and shitty. But I've never been one to let shitty weather stop me, so where in the US can I reasonably expect to visit in 3 weeks and still make it back in time?

I don't know if your interested in history, but there's plenty of old Revolutionary War and Civil War museums and battlefields along the East Coast states. I haven't been there before myself, but I've heard that plenty of places like Mt. Vernon in Virginia and Gettysburg in Pennsylvania that are worth taking a look at. D.C's good too .

You obviously want to drive across the country, go the northern route on 80 and 90 first and hit the Black Hills/Badlands and Yellowstone. Then you can either go onto California and Visit San Fran then either go down california and go back across in the deep south or go back up to Sacramento and get on 50 and go across the middle. I don't know what exactly you could see on 50 or the southern route.
If I knew where you were starting from then I could just enter that and all the way points into google earth and give at least the northern route to you that way rather then drawing on that picture of yours.

Go South when you get here... Virginia and below should be realtively warm...
If you don't mind cold and possibly crappy road conditions... Colorado/Wyoming/Utah are beautiful...

3 weeks and you'll be hard pressed to see all that you can, but for sheer scenic beauty you gotta head out west. The route through the Dakotas to Yellowstone and on to the Northwest or California would be ideal, but going all the way there and back wouldn't leave much time to actually do anything in 3 weeks.

Good luck though, the U.S. really is a pretty amazing place...you're sure to see some amazing stuff if you put 3 weeks into traversing it.

Should only take 5-6 days to go across which leaves 9 days total to do something out there if it's a total of 12 days there and back.

I'd recommend going south along the east coast. New York, Boston, Philly, DC etc.

The West is beautiful, but the distances are too great to do a 3 week driving trip and make it back to your starting point...if you want to do more than drive past the great places...

I've never been to Vegas, but it just looks so tacky from what I've seen.

vegas is a must imo. even if you don't gamble it's nice to pick up a show and the atmosphere is entirely unique.
