So I'm making this topic in the hopes that I will be able to stumble upon some great new artists I am yet to experience. All types of electronic music are welcome; just list a bunch of your favorites, maybe a few links, chat about who sucks more, w/e.

I'll start with my favorites (obviously not doing all the genres here):

Industrial-
- Combichrist
- Meat Beat Manifesto
- Covenant

Electro house-
- Relanium
- Mr. Oizo
- SebastiAn
- Crystal Castles
- Simian Mobile Disco

IDM-
- The Tuss
- Wisp
- µ-Ziq
- Aphex Twin

DnB-
- Squarepusher (not solely DnB)
- DJ Hazard
- DJ Friction
- Original Sin

Left a bunch out, but this is just to get us rolling. Please throw down some names to get a solid list going; maybe run into something new.

Not sure how well known these are, or what sub-genres, but here..:
Eat Static
Overseer
Apollo 440
Propellerheads
Fingathing
Bentley Rhythm Ace
Budha Building

I'm still an Electronica-newb.

I assume there's no point in mentioning artists like Fatboy Slim and the Crystal Method?

Most everybody will have heard of them but it never hurts. It's not like anybody is going to call you a moron for their mention.

Poschy did you see them friday night? There was a huge show with them and a few other semi-well known electro artists.  Or MSTRCRFT last night?

Nah, went home that afternoon. A few people in res went though; said it was an amazing show.

@ w/e your name was: I mentioned Crystal Castles because they're local.

I thought you were just having a go because I brought the name up

I agree though; more than 1/2 of their stuff is total crap. As long as their local they have my support though; otherwise the genre in the region stagnates and peters out.

defiantly check out MSTRKRFT and Crystal Castles. go for Headhunterz and Bass Hunter (bass hunter is the shit).

don't listen to uzique about whatever he says about hardstyle. hes mad because he can't do the Melbourne shuffle.

EDIT: Hmm, I suppose I should throw in a warning that this post could be seen as very pretentious (though not on the level of Uzique or even Ishkur )

I'm away from my own computer right now, but I'll post a bunch of stuff as soon as I get back.

PROTIP: Avoid Euro Trance Trash at all costs. That means no Bass Hunter, no Tiesto, no Paul Van Dyk, nothing Italian at all, avoid most of the Dutch. I think Armin Van Buuren might be an exception, just might, but beware.

I was also going to throw in a warning for the Big Beat / Electronica stuff, but it's not all that bad actually, so long as it hasn't been played to death in action movies and in frat houses.

Really, though, try to avoid trance. I admit I used to listen to it back in the day, but it's just so boring and it's all been done before. There's so much more quality music out there and stuff that will really make your head trip and some really amazingly creative stuff out there. Heck, I was recently talking to my mom about music (yes, she likes electronic music) and we were saying how it's a "timeless genre". There's some stuff from the 80s and 90s that sounds like it's brand new and it's completely fresh. Of course, that only applies to the good stuff.
