Wow... Canada has joined the ranks of appeasers.
First, the Netherlands and the U.K. caved to pressure from Muslims regarding Geert Wilders.
Now, Canada caves to Jews over Galloway.
Good going guys... How's that free speech of yours going up there?

I was feeling about having you actually comment on one of your newsfeeds. Then I thought it was Canada and it's entirely up to them.blademaster wrote:

I'm sick of all this bullshit. I cannot accept the fact that my government, the one I voted for, will not let him in for voicing his own damn opinion. Not only that but to be bent to the will of an "interest group". I don't give a rats ass if he supports Hamas just like I don't give a shit for Geert Wilders and his view of Islam. I may not like what Galloway has to say (I don't like to cut and run tbh. I also don't like the fact that he is a far left nut job who for some reason still wanted the Soviet Union around. His Anti-US tirades also piss me off alot) but every single person is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs. It simply cannot be taken away from them; its a fundamental base for our great civilization. NOBODY should ever be blocked from entering a Country over a matter of personal preference, whether it be Galloway or Wilders.
As Turq points out: What the fuck ever happened to free speech? What the fuck ever happened to freedom? So much for section 2B, Constitution Act 1982.

I suppose you'll be getting people who were outraged at the anti-Islam MP getting banned from the UK but will be happy that this guy is banned from Canada, and vice versa. Such is the world these days
I'm gonna say what I said about the other guy, which was something along the lines of "good for the government" - I mean if you publicly hold some extreme views don't expect to get into any country you want easily... these people set themselves up for this shit

No doubt, but it's rather pathetic. I'm glad we don't do that shit.

Well, on the flipside, I guess I could pose the following questions....
If you're ok with your government blocking people over their opinions, where do you draw the line?
I'm sure you could have a much more ordered society by labeling all extreme views as hate speech and then prosecuting it. Some countries have done that.
But at some point, you have to ask... Who decides what is hate speech and what isn't?

Awesome... pandering to minority groups, sweet!
I don't know why Galloway expresses support for Hamas though given some of the things they do. Yes, they were democratically elected but so was Hitler. Being democratically elected by the people is all well and good but acting like a respectable Government is another.

Should talk to Germany, their free speech laws are awesome.
So are Austria's for that matter.

I agree. As despicable as neo-Nazies are, they should have the freedom of speech just like everyone else.Flecco wrote:

That and spouting off that Jews weren't the targets of a genocidal campaign discredits them and pushes them further into the margins of abysmal irrelevance to society than they are now.Turquoise wrote:

But I still have the internet.

If Canada considers Hamas a terrorist organisation, and this person is actively assisting Hamas, well, then I don't see an issue with it. The issue is with the hypocrisy of letting anyone else offering assistance to Hamas in as long as the Jews aren't moaning.

People should be free to deny the Holocaust if they want to. It doesn't change the fact that they are ignorant dumbasses, but they still should be free to speak their minds.
Similarly, people in Turkey should be able to talk about the Armenian genocide without getting prosecuted, but unfortunately, Turkey doesn't seem to understand free speech either.
Broadcasters have the right to censor whatever they want to, as long as they are private.usmarine wrote:

The government shouldn't have the right to censor people's opinions.
There's a very important difference between those two things.
Personally, I think the FCC is unconstitutional, but that's beside the point.
