Irrelevant. If you don't gain wisdom by spending time in political office, your experience as a political leader is irrelevant to your competence as a a political leader.

uhhh, yeah lol. In America you don't need a passport to go to one of many, many other nearby states and their national parks.

We have many, many more miles of roads and particularly highways.

My closest relatives are 3 states away, so when I travel w/ a family of 4 and luggage, a larger vehicle is necessary.  A Prius just won't cut it.  It won't work very well when traveling through significant snow accumulation either.  I would have been stuck on my way home from work several times just last month if I was driving some little econobox instead of my 4x4 suv.
FM was talking about "great outdoors" and distances to cover. Unless you guys are suggesting that people frequently drive more than 2000 miles for whatever reason, then my comparison for regular use is just fine. There's certainly both "great outdoors" and distance to cover in Norway, and the comparison with Colorado was for easily comparing how far things are apart in places in the US where you'd need a big truck because of the outside conditions. Nothing more.

I wholly agree with your other example. If you have a big and spread out family that you see a lot, you need a vehicle that can carry a good bit. It's just not very often the case or argument for why people buy these big cars. Seeing those huge SUVs parked outside the homes of old people who never go anywhere far anyway is not uncommon at all. Not that I have anything against their choices, but the way I see it, it is just a difference of culture that's largely responsible for Americans buying bigger cars than people from many other wealthy countries.

My family lives in one of the richest suburbs in America. We live in Texas, where it is very, very flat, and there are rough driving conditions maybe 5 days out of the year, max. We own a Chevy Suburban.

My dad also has a trailer that he fairly frequently uses, maybe 6-10 times a year to carry various large loads either around the city or to a relative's house, chock full of tools and lumber.  He also pulled a 5,000 lb trailer for scouting when I was doing that, averaging once a month for over two years. This last summer we took a 2.5 week family vacation all up and down the U.S., going to national parks with a 34' trailer in tow.

We have a lot of land set aside in the U.S. to a national parks system, and we have an excellent highway system that gives people the opportunity to easily access them.

As an example an politician that don't gain wisdom through experience i would classify as a bad politician and of course is relevant to his competence as a political leader.

You're right. LPG is a very cheap alternative and is effective. I use it and the savings alone have been great.

I just watched the episode of Top Gear from series 12 where Jeremy makes it from Basel to Blackpool in a twin-turbo Jag and then seeing this topic makes me lawl.

I'm yet to really see any sort of hybrid car that makes me say "I want that". I think once we get a bit more creative with our hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, there might be some options instead of hideous vehicles like the Prius and such like.

Prius is rubbish. Compared to other cars to having the least carbon footprint on the environment, (going by word of mouth, cbf to check), they say that the Mercedes AMG is the least environmentally damaging than every other vehicle, including your Prius and whatnot. Fyi, Prius came in at 13th IIRC.
Twas an inquest, going into manufacturing hours, water used, oil used, manufacturing process etc.

I think he means this
Environmental Friendly. The S-Class is the first car ever (2005) to receive an environmental certificate from the German Commission on Technical Compliance
Due to a large percentage of the materials used being recycled.
