Since my current one (7900gt/gto) is shitting the bed, i need a new one asap. Don't need a top of the line one, just something to get me through the current/near future games on medium/high settings.

budget around $150, but could possibly stretch it a bit

Well, i've no experience with the 260, you'd want to ask max or someone about that but...

my 4850 has no problems with anything i throw at it, at all. If like you said you don't need something fantastically powerful, it really would be a good choice.

260 is about half as good as a 295, and that's pretty much the best card on the market atm.

GTX 260 is very good choise. So eyah I would say its worth the extra if you can afford it.

edit: i would look for the core 216 ones tho... that in ur link has only 192 SP units...

if u can't afford the core 216, the 192 one will still be noticably better than hd 4850.

I got Vantage Advanced licence from EVGA few weeks after getting the GTX 295... funny thing they didn't tell me anywhere the licence can be found in only one place off the site withing your products

a new mobo would mean new cpu and new ram also, money I dont have right now, and the video card is what is causing way too many problems right now, so im upgrading that first

All together is under 200$ with shipping.

There is no point getting a faster video card when the other components are straining.

I still have my FX55 cpu as well. My 8800gs is not running to its full potential because my other components can not keep up. Keep in mind that this is a midrange card. Also video cards hold their value much longer than the components listed. When you have the money later on the video card you want will be eventually cheaper.
