Chuy has contacted me about this just yesterday ( not about TF2, but about the game servers on trackr in general ), and I can assure you that we are in the process of working things out. However, we are still in a pre-stage, discussing structure and staff on the trackr platform.
No final decision has been made about the games that will be run on trackr game servers, although we do have a list of favourites.
OK that's good news, but how comes the austrialian guys got a COD4 server?
tazz sorted it all out with the provider i think

as Raven has said, they sorted it out with the australian provider themselves, which is absolutely fine. Most of us EU or US guys don't know the intricate dealings of GSP's in australia anyway. As far as I know, the provider situation in Australia is very different from that in the EU or the US.

For the EU, however, we will have a more central approach.

Ok so, Trackr has come along now, albeit it might not have had the impact some people wanted, but it's still here isn't it?

So, where are the servers?

If made just one into something like a TF2 server, I know I could get it populated with my friends who play TF2 all the time, and a full server can only be a good thing. More people will know and hear about BF2s/Trackr and hopefully come join us on the forums.

I'm not having a go at whoever's in charge or anything, I just want to know what's happening.

I could perhaps coordinate these for you ... but, the issue is likely $$.

The BF2 servers are gratis because of advertising.

How much ££ would need to be donated?

Peter has taught me how to donate (lol), so how much would we need to contribute overall?

Why can't we advertise the TF2 server on the main page like we do with BF2?

If that isn't possible however, then I don't mind donating.

I have email addresses (etc) for our friends at i3d (and access to the control panel).

We could, and that's the intent with trackr ... but, this is a BF2 site, and the advertising bang-for-the-buck isn't as great if TF2 is advertised, so it may not be an attractive option for the server companies.

Why not put it on the front of Trackr then? I guess that's up to chuy but we should at least get in contact with i3d and see what they are willing to do.

I don't think that only front-page advertising is enough in exchange for a server. Not any more, anyway. Not on this site.

So is someone contacting them? If not, could I have the contact details myself?

I don't just want to send an email to [email protected] if there is a specific address that you guys use.

We should definitely confirm everything though chuy. For one, he may have plans.

- Chuy doesn't reckon anyone is going to give us a free server any more
- There wouldn't be enough benefits for the provider
- He's going to have a go at setting up a TF2 server on Gibson
- Gibson is in Texas with a 100mb line
- Will need to test out it - to see how heavy the source engine is and what pings are like for EU goers
- If successful: Will perhaps try setting up multiple game servers on Gibson

(Gibson = the server hosting this website)

That is a good idea. The ping will probably be too high for me to play though but it should be great for USA'ers.

That's a good idea with gibson, but like NooBest says, can't we at least approach the providers and see what they say? The worst thing they can say is no.

Well a TF2 server ain't that expensive. Only 24 slots which also means you don't need to have a real beefy server to handle the lag.

So I'm for it.

Just rent a server from i3d or Multiplay

Like Docta says, they aern't that expensive and if everyone chips in each month we'll be good to go.
