I have some coffee brewer from the late 80's. It's got a watch built-in. It's big, awesome and simple.

How ironic, I got an offer in the mail a few weeks ago from Gevalia Coffee. They said if I pick any two packages of their coffee beans for $20 I would also receive a coffee maker FOR FREE! I figured what the hell! They had a nice choice of beans. I went with a Peruvian organic, and a Sumatra blend. AND here's a pic of my coffee maker they sent me

Not messy at all Really easy to clean up, srsly, no mess at all The coffee at the end is like, compacted into a disc shape, and it only falls apart if you poke it, so don't poke it lawl

of all the makers i've owned (Mr. Coffee, etc.) this one produces the 'cleanest' cup.
when in Hawaii a few years ago, did a tour of a plantation. got the grower to send 5 lb. vacuum sealed
bags of beans, USPS. beans, fresh ground is the only way to go. the grower is retiring, moving back to the states.
Dammit! the beans are twice as much, and half as fresh. good luck finding the 'right' machine, it does make a differance.

If you really like coffee, you need a burr grinder. You can find them around $50, the difference is they don't use hot rotating metal blades which, surprise surprise, burn the beans as they grind.

Both my grinder and coffee maker are Capremo.
