Well I am not going to try an argue with Enlightenment Philosophy's impact on the American Rev, but you didnt say anything about that you said the fooking French Revolution :p
The political French Revolution that you speak of is exactly the same in principle, it was the political and mass-movement result of that paradigmatic shift in thinking and philosophy. The point that I was trying to make at the end of the day is that European philosophy, arts and culture did 99% of the work that American thought and principles were built on. You escaped the dogmatism of Europe, sure, but now your country is even more dogmatic and religious than most of the Western European coutries that have continually been moving on at the same pace since the 1500's. Seriously arguing the cultural, philosophical and intellectual merits of each culture is insane. It's a by-default victory to Europe. You Americans nitpick our phases of colonialism and Imperialism as if they paint the entire history of Europe with a blood-red brush. They really don't; what you do not realize is that most of modern-day western philosophy and morality/ideals were founded in Europe in and out of states of religious rule and secular thought. Plus, I still maintain my point about America simply being a 'blank slate' experiment- you had no resistance and no prior ways of thought to overcome; the only Revolution in mass-terms that you undertook was one to shake off the shackles of the European past. Bringing about major change and advancing thought back on the home-continent is much, much harder.

Feel free to argue back against any of these points with your Wikipedia knowledge. I shall gladly counter.

I had no Idea the Romans were not considered European, thank you for giving this wonderful insight

But tbh, when people talk of Europe as a unified continent, it's stupid. The continent has been at each others balls up until the EU was created, and the EU was just created so that the mainland assholes could finally control all of Europe like they have wanted to (Roman Empire, Napoleon, Hitler etc..) throughout history
Of course the Romans were European (more like their own class, Mediterranean). However Europe went and fucked that up and then there was the Dark Ages.

What a poor understanding of European history. The Dark Ages' were actually hugely beneficial and forwarded a lot of our societal and social thought. The religious and militaristic core of the Roman Empire falling of course caused a "Dark Ages" in respects to that, but that doesn't mean we just sat around twiddling our thumbs for the next 500 years. And how the FUCK are Meditteranean's their own 'class' of Europeans? Half of Europe is the Mediterranean, you idiot.

Also, I like how the awesomely-superior Americans define their 'triumphs' over the European continent's thought and philosophy by naming 5 material consumer-brands or products that are better than ours. Hahaha, that sums it all up.

My bit about food is between Ted and I.
Saying that Romans, Italians or Mediterraneans are a 'different class' of European is utterly retarded. Defining that distinction based on which direction their empire expanded, is even more stupid. The Roman thought, society-structure and heritage fell upon all of Europe, not the Levant and North Africa. That's like saying Hitler was a different class of European and wasn't really Austrian/German because lots of his military efforts were in Northern Africa and Russia, off the European continent. Honestly.  Mediterranean = European. Always has.

Dude. I've made myself clear about that. Romans were Europeans originally, but their empire was Mediterranean. No need to argue over a frivolous observation with such ferocity.

I'm arguing over something "frivolous" with "ferocity" (lol) because Romans were European people. All of the achievements of the Roman Empire are, for the most part, European achievements. It's part of our history, our culture, our heritage. Of course they weren't the oligarchical unifying force of Europe that they ideally wanted to be, but a great part of our current-day existence derives from systems and ideologies that they passed on. Their empire extended both ways you know, they took most of Western/Central Europe and the majority of the British Isles. Campaigns into Asia and Africa doesn't make them an exclusively "Mediterranean" empire. They were European, there's no distinction of separation to be made.
