Definitely Tf2 all the way

until the l4d sdk comes out, been fucking waiting ages, TF2 is the better game. The only reason L4D will be great is when custom maps start poping out. Playing the same 4 maps over and over gets boring, fast.

No brainer.

Left 4 Dead has a terrible server system, and when I eventually even manage to get into a low-ping game (which for some reason takes lightyears on my University router) the gameplay is repetitive and banal. After completing all of the campaigns on the higher difficulties I have no desire to replay them at all... kill swarm, tank comes throw molotov, rinse repeat rinse repeat rinse repeat until you are lobotomized.

TF2 on the other hand, have played it for at least a couple of hours every week since the Beta- and I'm still here about 800hrs of gameplay and 2 stats wipes later . Whether I play some pub for a laugh/relax, some dm/tr/bball2 for soldier antics or proper pickups/PCW/competition for some serious teamwork... the game is awesome fun for them all. And, if I get bored of TF2 like I do in L4D after about 1-2hrs... guess what? I just change class, and it's like playing a whole new game. Schwing.

Definitely, L4D has tons of room for (hugely necessary, in places) improvement.

But I think it ultimately boils down to the contrast between an excellent team-based FPS (pub or comp-level, caters for both) or a gimmick zombie shooter. L4D is self-limiting in actual concept.

L4D was Turtle Rock Studios which was bought buy Valve in January 08.

How many retards think it's EA purely because disc distribution was done by EA? Same thing happened with The Orange Box.

I will admit that L4D perked my interest when they announced it, but as soon as it was released all I have heard about is shitty servers and repetitive game play. I have heard almost no complaints about TF2.

And yes, I am very biased against EA/dICE for the way they have treated the community.

People that say L4D's gameplay is repetitive seem to only be talking about Campaign mode. Campaign mode IS repetitive and boring. VS mode on the other hand is full of variety and has gameplay features that have never been in any other games ever. Leaping on survivors as a hunter or dragging a guy off a cliff to his instant death as a smoker is oh so satisfying.

I still went for TF2 though.
