time to go for 200 bclk
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I'd have thought at 4Ghz you'd be sub 10s easy with the i7's.

It's good, certainly, but it doesn't seem far off the C2D times for that sort of clock.

I'd have to OC my E8400 to 4.4GHz to get that score. 10%

Indeed.

Plus the E8x00's OC higher.

u liek superpi much but think about this:
Core i7 @ 3.8GHz vs. E8600 @ 4.4Ghz with a GTX 295 in COD: WAW for example.... The difference is more like 50% :>

and this is in today's games that are far from optimized to run 8 threads effectively.

edit: and btw I had ease latencies on my ram in that run... I could easily drop 0.25s or more from there...

its not a bad CPU for single GPU gamer.... but if u are not GPU limited, Core i7 just EPIC AAZZZRAEPS the Phenom II.

The results are not even funny anymore...

Only at really small resolution.

At high resolution, it won't matter as much because the higher the res, the more GPU dependent it is.

Do you guys think its worth over clocking an 8 core?
Tried with the AMD3500 once and it almost went terribly wrong.

upto 1920x1200 the difference is huge... unless you have a 30" TFT there....

just go see guru3d's test... if u don't believe me...

hell I jsut post a linky here: http://www.guru3d.com/article/core-i7-m … -review/19

Wow, that's a lot better than I thought. I seem to think from what I'd seen when it was first released people seemed to be getting scores close to C2D. I guess I was wrong. People did seem annoyed with how it performed in games though.

with single GPU the performance is pretty close together. That's why ppl though O its the fail in gaming lololo... but when u add something like GTX 295 or HD 4870 CF there... wonders start to happen. Now you know why I got the Core i7 instead of C2Q.

gawd I hate my mobo, it's booting weird, I guess this mobo doesn't like 230 FSB or something (HTT is corrected and everything, memory auto sets, may have to change timings, but forget that i'll just stick at my 10%)

it WAS running stable at 15% the first boot, I could play games, run diagnostics etc, weird.

tried a +40mv to Vcore too (bios says 1.42V with that much) maybe i'll check out setting my timings right, hmm

**EDIT and i'm totally upgrading to a C2D/C2Q in feb, screw this old amd lol :p

not very OC friendly like those crazy 1.83ghz to 3.0GHZ OCs o_o
