I'll be up front, I don't have the time right now to research all the older parts to find a good cheap deal. My cousin wants me to build a good cheap computer for him. His budget is only $200 though. I would love to see what "The gang" at bf2s can come up with. Ebay is an option.

I do NOT need:
- A case
- Case fans
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- Monitor
- OS

I do need:

- Motherboard
- CPU
- CPU cooler
- RAM (512mb is alright)
- Hard drive (40gb is fine)
- PSU
- DVD drive
- GPU/Sound card if they are not on the mobo already.

Just for a little bit extra time killing for y'all: Find a decent laptop for that price.

Thanks.

945G/2180/2GB/Antec Basiq OEM/Generic small HD.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Do I have to do everything around here?

E1200 - $50
Cheap-ass G31 mobo - $40
2GB Cheap-ass RAM $17
Antec Basiq 250 OEM - $20
WD Caviar 80GB - $36
Cheapest SATA burner on Newegg - $21
Subtotal - $183.94

Could probably bring that CPU up to around 2.5GHz on the stock cooler for a little extra juice.

If you aren't gaming, onboard will do juuuuuuust fine.

Its a $200 rig. For gaming I would say single core AMD + 6600 > cheap intel + integrated

I would say it's quite obvious this computer is not intended for gaming.
