I'd probably go for the PSP with the games and capabilities it has. Resistance: Retribution looks kickass.

I used to have one but it's borked.

DS can get R4 but I prefer my PSP tbh. Crisis Core is a beauty of a game.

PSP is great cuz it has internets on it and has a way higher rez than any phone or ipod around.

So it's great for mobile porn.

I <3 My PSP. More than just a gaming system, it's great for surfing the web, watching tv/movies, portable mp3 player, and so easy to hack/mod. Lately I've been playing more PS1 games on it than actual PSP games, and I haven't even put on a GBA, NES, or SNES emulator on it yet.

Plus flash memory is so cheap, I got an 8 GB Memstick Duo a couple months ago for $40, and they're probably even cheaper now. I have a bunch of music, some tv shows I converted from DVDs, and some PS1 games. Also, you can make images of your UMDs so that you don't have to carry a bunch of those around.

And the PSP becomes more powerful if you've got a PS3. Can "link" the two together and do all kinds of stuff (e.g. start downloading a game or demo onto the PS3 remotely using the PSP).

Honestly, the PSP has been the last great purchase I made, and I'm so happy I made it. It really pays off and is absolutely worth every penny.

Orly?

One thing I must note is that Sony released a new version a week or 2 ago, and apparently the screen on it is utter crap, ie you see the scan lines, I haven't payed enough attention to my Google Reader since then to see if they released a newer, fixed model(It was a hardware issue)

If you want to actually play decent, original games on it, go for the DS. Though many of them are shit.

There are many tutorials on it, just search Google. Some of them are quite scary and the people doing them don't really explain what's going on, so you don't feel as confident. But this one I used and it worked great.

I don't have either but one thing I want to point out about DS which would definitely make me buy a DS over PSP is that there's a cartridge that costs I think $100 or something like that that can connect to your USB port on your computer and you can actually put ROMs on it which is pretty cool, aka free unlimited games for DS.

Or you can spend $3 on a mini-usb -> usb cable and hook up your PSP to your computer and put movies, music, and games on it...

Can you put PSP games on it though? I don't really know much about these, I'm just wanted to point it out as many people don't know this.

Yeah you can. You can buy them off the PlayStation Network and download them to your PSP. You can also mod/hack the PSP and make images of the UMDs you already have and put them on there.

I'd wait for the next-gen consoles. They tend to come without much notice, and it's really been a while since the last gen came.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
