I don't have money to buy HD 4850 and I would also have to replace the power supply ( I have a 300w power supply).  I am thinking of getting HD 3850 or HD 4670, but I'm not sure which one is better.  Could someone tell me which card should I get?

8800GT.

Though if your PSU can handle those cards it will handle a 4850 too.

"The Radeon HD 4670 is a bit slower than the Radeon HD 3850, and Radeon HD 4650 is very close in performance to the Radeon HD 3690. If we considers that the prices of Radeon HD 3850 and Radeon HD 4670 will be close, then for AMD it is better to rather end the deliveries of the first video card, or to reduce prices of the latter."

edit: but if you know were to look you can find 8800GTX/8800GT for <95€

Do they have a HD 4670 in the charts? I didn't find it...

But.... I have very serious concerns about that 300w PSU being used with this level of graphics cards....

good luck running any of these cards with a sub 350 watt do you know how many amps on the 12v rail link to your psu would help.

Likewise, especially given the fact the Nvidia 7 series, and the Ati 1xxx series both suggest a 350w, and those were two gens ago. Sapphires site for the 3850 recommends atleast a 450w and a 400w for the 4670. You can pick up a good quality 500w for $50 nowadays, so its not that huge of a deal.

You are all nubs, like Tazz said.

The 4670 is a very versatile card, especially considering the price. In 90% of cases, it's just as fast as a 3850, sometimes even faster, and with way better AA handling. On top of that, it uses almost no power at all, and would probably run on your PSU just fine.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

id still like to see the specs on his psu if its a crappy one and hes used it for even a year i doubt 300 would be enough.

Got the 4670 card for my brother's pc and frankly i'm quite suprised with it's performance.

4670 might be a tad slower than the 3850, though the difference should be nearly unnoticeable imo, and with aa/af enabled the 4670 is way faster because of the more modern architecture.

Before anyone says: 'BOTH SUXX, NOT ENOUF POWAH FOR AA/AF!!', as long as you play on a huge widescreen 30" monitor, it'll be fine.

Depending on the rest of his sytem, even 15A on +12V could suffice.

Processor: AMD Phenom X3 8450 (2.1 GHz)
RAM installed: 4 GB DDR2 SDRAM
Hard drive: 500 GB
ATI 3200 On Board Video
300w power supply.  I don't know many many +12V Rails the power supply has.

It's too late now, I got that computer while ago.

can you stretch that budget just a little?  the 4850 will give you loads better performance than the 3850 or the 4670.

I would have thought a 4850 would have raped his PSU, assuming it's a generic shitty one.

didn't even think about that tbh.  how about a link to your PSU, OP?
