Doing the jump --> prone 'roll'

I can't seem to regularly pull off the kind of rolling manoeuvre I see everyone else do just before they shoot my face in two shots. I can jump and prone but there doesn't seem to be that insta-kill effect that others get - is this just crappy aiming on my part/good aiming on their part or am I missing something?

There is no insta-kill effect. It's just that they are invulnerable to most players while on the jump-roll and thus have perfect time to aim correctly. The hitbox is already against the ground when the model is in the air. When someone does this, you should aim below them. Works for me at least.

Hmm.. so the roll animation appears when you jump and prone, changing direction at the same time, and it's just that I gotta aim better.

Had a nasty feeling that would be the case.

I will try shooting the ground more too.. oh wait, that's what I mainly do now.

prone + strafe makes roll, jump + prone + strafe too.

Is there an order to the keystrokes? Does it need to be 'jump + prone + strafe', cos I bin doing 'strafe + jump + prone'.

Why jump? There is fuck all differnce between crouch and prone, and theres fuck all diff between standing up and crouch.

People that have trained themselves to instantly do the roll every time they go one-on-one can be quite hard to kill. Is it even possible for somebody to die while they are rolling? I have yet to see it happen. The bullets seem to go right through 'em.

To do the "magic carpet" dolphin dive that some people do, so it looks like they are almost floating through the air, you jump and hit prone twice quickly. I personally never do any kind of jumping motion in combat because I am a heterosexual.

Diving to the ground VS a decent shooter is a bad idea, when you know where to aim they are an easy target

Better to stay moving imo.
