[TF2] Invisible Knife?

So about half the time I play, the spy's knife is screwed up. Sometimes it appears as a wireframe outline, but most of the time it's simply invisible, along with the spy's arm. What's the best way to fix this, preferably without reinstalling?

Also, I am sick of all the skins I've downloaded, and want to get rid of them and go back to stock. Do I just delete the folders that I created when I started installing skins?

Thats probably the reason why the knife is 'screwed up' ... yes just delete the files you installed for the skins..

basically sounds like the vtm or vtf is messed up for the skin you downloaded, just delete the skin and it will be fine.

Yeah it'll be the custom skins. Even if they work perfectly fine for you, a lot of servers have sv_pure 2 (or something) which only allows standard skins. When you join one of these servers your weapons/whatever will either be invisible or a wireframe.

Don't worry about deleting things, you can delete the entire 'tf' folder if you like and nothing bad will happen. Although I wouldn't recommend it, you'll lose your screenshots, configs etc. Just an example.

So yeah just delete everything related to the skins.

Okay, I deleted and it works a lot better, thanks a lot.

Somewhat related question, does anyone else sometimes get items in the game that are randomly skinned a black/neon pink checkerboard pattern? This has happened before, but I've noticed it twice since I deleted my custom skins. First was the medic's head, later was the spy's knife.

Occasionally. I'm guessing it's the detail texture (fills in unskinned models/landscape) that was never really developed. Detail texture is used to fill in gaps or anything you might have missed in a skin, for whatever reason. It's probably just TF2 bugging and not loading some parts of skins. I've seen entire rooms of this, sometimes just for a second and it goes away.

Its a lightmap problem afaik, it happens to me with the spawn room doors (inner ones) on 2fort, and the water on 2fort. You should see like 50 messages in the console in red about it, it happens SOMETIMES.

I've had it happen in Gold Rush offence spawn. I thought it was my overclock.
