On most kill cams I'm sitting there looking at how they emptied their 30 rounds in about half a second and just wondering why I'm not getting that fire rate. Is it due to the fact that I'm only getting 30-40 FPS? When I go on my brothers computer with everything maxed and still getting 60 FPS and I'm still getting this crappy fire rate. Is there a trick, or an edit to a file somewhere that makes you fire faster? What the hell am I missing?
Yup, if you have 125 or 250 FPS you will fire way faster. You could also try 77 or 69 (I think those are the right ones). The quake engine has sweet spots, those being some of them.
There is a perk which in English i dnt' know how its called because I have an italian COD4, but it basically double the fire rate of any weapon.
250FPS?h4hagen wrote:

Damn, that's a lot of frames. I'll try this. Thanks.
@Aerodynamic, nah I don't mean double-tap.

Or they are using a handy little perk called Double Tap.
Isn't the COd4 FPS capped at a certain point.
You guys are happy to get 60, or even 40
Mine goes at max 28-34 fps,

you can use the command /com_maxfps 125 or whatever, but you need to achieve those frame rates to begin with, so you may need turn down graphics or whatever. 125 I think is probably plenty.

Sarcasm doesn't work on the internets remember?
any people know the command to obtain the fps without me using the command to bring up the xfire thing.
/cg_showfps 1aerodynamic wrote:

I think.
Just type in showfps.. it might be /r_showfps or something.
thnx

I love this thread.
Try /cg_drawfps 1, not sure which one it is.
holy misinformation batman
FPS has absolutely no bearing on rof, in fact nothing does except what gun you are using and whether you have double tap or not. You should have realized this when you switched comps and didn't see any change. No one else is firing faster than you.
You can unlock the FPS on any game if you know how as well.

you are 100% wrong. the more fps the faster your gun will shoot (only on this game engine). 250 fps: jump higher, shoot faster 125 fps: jump farther, shoot a little faster than normal. 333 fps is illegal on most server configs because you can noticeably shoot faster and sometimes run silently. go lock your frames at 40 and spray an ak, then lock at 250 and spray. the difference is clear.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

edit: the reason he didnt see a difference was because going from 30 fps to 40-60 fps in this game doesnt help much. if you play this game with max settings and get 40-60. you should turn the resolution and settings down and play at 125 or 250 fps. you will be amazed at how much smoother the game is at 250. you also have better registration at 250 because you are able to send more packets to the server.

On a scale from one to hard to believe, I have to say this is to the extreme of hard to believe.kajukenbo_kid wrote:

If this is remotely true, maybe it changes how fast it APPEARS you are firing. No way it actually changes gameplay.
I'm actually quite positive that FPS does effect ROF, player speed, jump height etc.
I think this article explains it well:

go spend ten minutes researching the quake3 game engine then get back to me.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

If you don't believe them, go give it at try. . . its not a coincidence that 98% of cod4 pro player caps there fps at 125 or 250.

In the above post, notice the jump height, while the author does not mention ROF, FPS clearly has an effect on jump height, it does not seem as if you jump higher, you DO jump higher. Similarly, it does not seem like you fire faster, you DO fire faster.h4hagen wrote:
