I don't see why you would think it sucks. Looks like they are adding higher ranks (officer) soon, so instead of everyone having more or less the same rank (except for the hardcore players), there will be a larger variety of ranks. Sounds good to me.3stitches wrote:

Also, since people will have more unlocks, they'll be more likely to stray for their normal kits. From what I saw, people with 1-2 unlocks almost invariably played with those 1-2 kits.

Wow, lots of bitching about the ranks. Not sure why really, I mean it looks like we have new ranks now to aim for anyway. And imagine if the Marines only had like 3 Gunnery Sargeants or whatever. Clearly BF2 isn't a simulation, but this is more realistic than what we had going until today.

Oh. There is going to be higher ranks. Thats cool then. One thing though, since all this patch stuff as happened it looks as if i've lost my vet knife badge. I havn't played since sunday and i didn't load the patch yet. ?!?!

Check out NASTY BUTLER... one of the top 10 with the new patch.... Hes about to be one of the FIRST Officers! I think this is awesome! Just a friendly reminder: On page 12 in the manual it says you start out as a PRIVATE and work your way up to a Battlefield Officer Commission...

I am now a master sergant from being a corporal with 21635 points, i got a lovely sequence of drum rolls. If this is what i can go up to in the space of a few minutes play then EA must have added a lot more ranks if not BlaZiN.uk, AraGoth, >broggi<, ****666RA**** are going to be preety anoyed to name just a few.
Plus i got the Good Conduct Ribbon in that round as well.

I went from Corporal to First Sergeant. Four ranks up, four unlocks.
ya i almost got 19,000 so i should have at least 3 unlocks/ranks

I had to let you guys know, I just got veteran Spec ops and I'm no where near old requirements. Ill update as I go.

(In response to the post below, yes you do get to keep them, but because everyone is on BF2 at once getting this new patch and ranking up, the server's are having trouble keeping up, ergo it will take a while for your stats to come through)

what ever you get you dont keep i just ranked up and when the server started again it reset ranks and i al so got a good conduct ribbon and i aint got in BFHQ

and according to some mater sgt out there im close to the next rank
for the matter that everyybody will have the unlocks now i dont care, we will see if its a prob.
getting more ranks is a good think i think and somehow i cant get rid of the feeling that Dice played a joke with us. come on they had the officer ranks in the f manual, but not in the original release. i think they had a good laugh at the ppl complaining about it and the others who played like crazy to get there, not to mention the resets
