Seriously it's starting to annoy me I can't find one without it, sure it was cool for the first ten minutes. Some of the sounds are just urgh stupid and unnecessary especially when you back stab someone "Humiliation". I can't turn then off either.
cl_downloadfilter nosounds. Be sure to delete the ones you've already downloaded.
I never hear them anymore.
Use the console command swinub gives.
or, in Tf2 you can go into options > multiplayer and change a drop box to 'do not download custom sounds'.
I hate them as well.

Holy fuck, I've been playing Valve games since 2001 and I had no idea you could stop the download of the sounds. Even on cable it takes five minutes to download all the sounds on some servers.
To be fair they only added it since the source engine so you couldn't do it in CS1.6 or anything like that.
Well still, I've had css since it came out four years ago or whatever and I never knew.

Didn't double kill and multi kill origionate from UT?
Yeah I think so. There's been a lot of controversy as to why they are "quake" sounds but I like them. I remember once going something like 78-0 (70 something kills, no deaths with a Magnum revolver) and the quake sounds started to be *really* good then. After 35 kills it repeated but with the female quake soundsSir Schmoopy wrote:
