just seen a different mobo for a lightly higher price.
What do you lot think
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132275
with this mobo the total price is £372.98
It's probably because it's older and they want to discourage people from buying it and move on to DDR2. Sort of like PC100/133 and yet people still buy that.Gooners wrote:

Still selling plenty of it. It's probably more for printers though than it is for computers now.
There are a couple of reasons why DDR (and SD) ram is more then DDR2.
1. They have stopped making them, so supply is limited to what they have in storage. As supply drops the price will rise.
2. You would only buy it id you "Needed" it, and as such must be prepared to pay more as there is effectively no competition.
3. If they sold it for what it 'should' be valued at, it would be cheaper to just throw the stuff in the bin, then keep it in storage.

Don't get an ASRock motherboard. They're not good compared to the competition, like Asus and Gigabyte. DDR3 capability is something you'd want to avoid. Many of the motherboards with both DDR2 and DDR3 capability will not have very good performance on either. By the time you get DDR3, it'll probably be a new spec, that doesn't even work on your board. Like the i915G supports DDR1, and DDR2-400/533. Nobody uses DDR2-533 today.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
so should i not get the mobo you suggested???Freezer7Pro wrote:

will all the components i suggested work together and MOST IMPORTANTLY will my monitor be compatible??
another Q, is the 700W PSU too much?
Ok, how about this Mobo, its only DDR2, supports core2duo, core2quad etc

And vdroop means that the vcore, aka CPU voltage drops under heavy CPU load.

ok, got it, another Q is this mobo future proof??, as im getting Vista home premium 64-bit OEM, so i won't be able to upgrade the Mobo, thus the reason i need to pick the right one

You should just get a GA-(E)P35-DS3(L/R). They're among the most popular boards there is, for a reason.rammunition wrote:

ok,thats the one you suggested, takes core2quad for a future upgrade, so thats good.Freezer7Pro wrote:

total price is then £358.03 with free P&P.
Another Q, is the graphics card suggested, the Sapphire HD 3870 512MB GDDR3 Dual DVI HDTV Out PCI-E Graphics Card, compatible with my monitor????
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docu … amp;dlc=en
and finally is the 700w PSU i suggested too much power, if so what power is recommended
For GPU, I'd actually get this: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145605
But it's whatever you prefer. Known vendor 3870 or Less-known vendor a-tad-better-performing 8800GT.

And the PSU is not a good brand, it's probably just around 550-600w IRL, if even that, so it's ok.

i forgot, what about fans/cooling??
That case has enough of a fan in the front. And if you won't OC heavily, the boxed cooler will do it.
Although I would advice you to switch that HD to this: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130454 . Seagate OEM HDs have weird warranties. At some point none of their OEM HDs had any warranty.

16MB cache is still good, i currently use a samsung 8MBbuffer HD and its very good, so will swap the HD.DeathUnlimited wrote:

The front fan on the case blows air OUT not push it to the back of the case, so if i add a back panel fan the other way round (air blowing to the front of the case) would it be a problem???
You can fit 2 80mm fans to the back of the case if you like.

so if i add 2 fans at the back, pushing air to the FRONT of the case, with the big fan taking the air out, won't it affect he HD or CD drives(overheat bays etc)??DeathUnlimited wrote:

4. don't worry, the parts you suggested are expensive in the U.K, i will get the rig freezer7pro suggested, with maybe one or 2 changes
im more tempted with this case btw
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134797
takes 2 fans at the back and has a big one at the front, similar specs to the one freezer7pro suggested, just a few quid more!
been on ebuyer looking for a cheaper graphics card and come across this
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/140617
has some good reviews to it but not 100& sure if it is compatible with my monitor
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hewlett-Packard … B000FTWUJU
also just had a look at the mobo suggested, does it support DDR3 Ram????
something that supports DDR3 would be nice for future proofing-ish, as im getting Vista home premium 64-bit OEM
Last question, is this build/mobo compatible with Vista home premium 64-bit???
If you're looking for a cheap yet powerful system, you should check out Sharky Extreme. Every few months they plan out the best computer you can possibly buy with $1000. I'm not sure how your money is going to convert to US$ but the list also includes monitor, keyboard, speakers etc which you already have so it'll be even cheaper just buying what you need. Here's the link for the latest Value Machine:
