40-50, I broke both my arms about four months ago . My arms are weak right now and push-ups are hard on me (I'm 190 pounds and 15 ) Other than push-ups I'm in pretty good shape (you have to be to play AA hockey.)

well at least tell us how you managed to break BOTH arms.  Gotta be something we call all laugh at your expense.

For most of the claims here, I'm willing to bet 80% are false.

If you can do more than 20 or 30 press ups in a minute, you're doing them wrong or have them confused with some other exercise. Knees on the floor? Not a press up. Back not straight? Not a press up. Arms not completely bent? Not a press up.

I've worked out for around 5 months now as part of training for a fitness event I'm attending in a year or so.
Currently the most press ups I can comfortably do is around 80, and it takes at least 6 minutes to finish the set.
(For perspective I'm currently bar curling 40kg, benchpressing 55kg and arm curling 20kg. Most people consider me quite muscly if the weights don't mean a whole lot to you.)

In fact it makes it considerably harder to do them slowly then just bob your head up and down and think you're actually making a difference.
I learnt how to do mine on knuckles and tiptoes, on a wooden floor.

You can also do incline pushups.  Make sure you don't dip your back though.

Incline pushups forces your abs to work too, use your abs to help keep your self straight.

I agree with you on the amount of time it takes to do a pushup.  I've been told by people that they can do over 60 in a minute.  That means 1 push up a second.

So I can easily do around 80-90 easily, at around 110 I start to feel it.
Be careful, you'll get flamed by the fatties if you say you go over 100.
Well I can do about 70 or 80, 100 is extremely impressive (hard), from the looks of your photo, I dont think you're built to be able to do that many.
Considering I've run the 400m at national level, played football at a high level (higher than county) and played rugby at county level no-one can really call me unfit/fatass.

Also for everyone out there saying how fast they can do them, its a lot harder to do them slowly and properly. For a real endurance test try holding them with your nose basically touching the floor for 10 seconds, then up for 5 and repeat, that is tiring, used to do it at footy training
