So you're going to send in the tanks? Lol...another armchair general with no concept of the reality of what a ground invasion of Iran would entail.

What do you think would happen?

I think we would run them right over.  With our air capabilities compared to theirs, theirs a greater chance of us winning the air war.

Not to mention the huge coastline that offers Marines the amphibious landing(not that it's needed since they are in Iraq).  Put the Army along the Iran-Iraq border and push in.

It wouldn't be that difficult to run them over in a full scale war. But if everyone was talking about knocking out their nuclear facilities, then cruise missiles and B2 raids would be sufficient. It be the same thing Israel did to Iraq in the 80s...

Honestly it's a horrible situation over there. I would rather see an Iranian Revolution vs. another War. The Iranian people shouldn't be killed because of the fear they have of the oppressive government. Its just a horrible situation.

Can you elaborate exactly on how horrible it is over there? I mean I know Imadinnerjacket is a knob jockey and they're drawing a lot of International criticism over the nuclear program and I know he's only playing the Nationalism card to deflect criticism from the usual domestic problems but to my knowledge they're not dirt poor, they're not overly oppressed (not in Middle Eastern terms in any case) and the country itself is very modern in terms of infrastructure and amenities and so on.

i hear reports of vast unemployment problems and disaffected youth who do not identify with the ruling mullah's edicts.  basically the people of the revolutionary guard era have gotten older and the younger generation are somewhat distanced from these people in terms of where they think the country should be going.  interesting parallel since the whole reason for the revolutionary guard was a dictatorial regime (shah) and how he brutalized the people.  now, we have new regime and same or similar shit happens.  SSDD

This is what is called capability.  Sure its nice, but it does fuck all.

Now can the US actually undertake what you have proposed above? Short answer: Not with your flagging economy and your stretched military resources.

So let them bark at each other.  Iran has a window of opportunity here and is taking every inch it can.

I really hope though that we do not go back to war.  I think a raid on their facilities would be enough.
