"Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama said on Friday he expects Republicans to highlight the fact that he is black as part of an effort to make voters afraid of him."

He's a politician... and a very slick one... he beat the Clinton machine... if he wins...more taxes so he and the govt can decide what you need...

Race card? Not from John McCain.  He already has an illegitimate black baby.

This is going to be a really interesting election.

Remember guys, if Obama doesn't get elected it is because all white people are racist.

What's the big deal, are you denying that the GOP will play the race card? It's pretty obvious that they will probably use race somewhere in the race, hell, you've already got Fox News calling Michelle Obama "Obama's Baby Mama."

I wonder how long it will be before he starts to claim the "Vast Right Wing Conspicarcy" is rigging election machines.

If you don't think race will play a big part in the GOP's gameplan, you're quite naive.

It would play better if the GOP didn't mention it.  There is enough to play with without having to resort to race.  Also, I think the Dems automatically think that way because it is what they would do.

Unfortunately, stressing Obama's black appearance and Muslim sounding name could help the GOP win the South.  We have a lot of ignorant idiots.

Do you remember the campaign of Bob Corker?  You know, the guy running for Tennessee senator for the GOP.  Well, it just so happened that his opponent, Harold Ford, Jr. was black.  So, Corker ran a campaign suggesting that Ford had a thing for messing around with white women.

It worked in Corker's favor despite the negative publicity it garnered nationally.  Why?  Because Tennessee is somewhat racist.

Hmmm...actually, I thought, and the stats may be old, but white and black were close to 50/50 in that state.

well I guess this is written poorly on wiki...

"In 2000, the five most common self-reported ethnic groups in the state were: American (17.3%), African American (16.4%), Irish (9.3%), English (9.1%), and German (8.3%)."

or maybe I just read it wrong.

Look at the Census chart for both 2000 and 2005 figures on the same wiki page.  That's what matters.

If they're willing to make race an issue for a Senate race, what makes you think they wouldn't with the presidency?

Your point is false. "Obama's Baby Mama", is what Michelle refers to herself...
