So, GRID is officially out soon and available for acquisition this very moment. I just acquired it too along with an xbawks 360 controller because playing racing games with a keyboard is shit

Runs better than Dirt did, too. It's got the same engine but better graphics.

Yeah I played the demo on the PS3, at first I hated it. Because I was so used to the more realistic physics of GT5/F1:CE and even GTA 4, even when I turned off all the gay electronic aids and shit. Then I eventually got into it after playing the demo. Don't think I'll get it though, I already have my fair share of racing games. Plus I don't really like the American/Xbox style of HDR all over the place and soft filters and stuff. I like the Clean style of GT5/F1:CE (and even GTA 4), or Burnout had a nice mix of being clean and having those typical American effects.

GRID doesn't come off as all srs, like in Dirt it's fun to simply drive. It's a nice mix between GT and NFS as far as driving goes, it's demanding enough to make the average "I didn't need to brake in NFS either!"-tard crash and burn on the first corner, but easy enough to allow for awesome controlled high-speed turns and such.
It also seems like a very finished game: The main menu is great, there is lots of dialogue, it runs well, has all the settings it needs, and you can even choose a nickname that you will actually be called by. (Protip: choose Snake. it's awesome when your manager-dude says "Nice driving, Snake") There's also a bunch of different racing modes, and hopefully the game can be modified like DiRT could.
As for the graphics, there is plenty of HDR but for the rest it looks really nice.

I played the demo and that left me unimpressed.

It felt like a odd mix between NFS and GT4.

I may try again some othertime.

Prostreets driving is actually pretty technical, very similar to GT5.
I git pro street the other day, so I wont get this, for a while at least

Anyone pick this up yet?  I wanted to buy it today, but funds are rather short until payday.

This looks awesome, I'm downloading the demo right now.

Good thing I already have a 360 controller.

I think GTA4 is a more interesting driving sim. Game looks great though.

Yes! Fuck this blur shit. I think in some places they do it because its help hide AA by getting rid of hard lines.

I'll save my usual campaign (I am sure some one is tired of it) and just say that I want an arcade game for screwing around, and a sim if I want to drive.

A serious arcade racer just has no appeal to me...

I'll pass, 45 vehicles isn't a terribly huge amount, and I'm not really a fan of arcade racers. Even though this one seems more than just the typical "turn at any speed and you'll corner fine" arcade racer, I haven't really heard a lot of "OMG DIS IZ AMAZING, GO GET IT NAO".

I'll be picking this up on Wednesday when I get paid.  Would have had it on release day if not for those darned bills.

Yeah I love it. The damage is amazing. Really makes me drive properly!

How far are you on it?

People underrate this game based on their experiences with other racing games. No matter how realistic your sim racing game was, chances are you weren't racing realistically in it at all. The AI in Grid is amazing if you give it a chance. I was used to the Gran Turismo "why am I not winning yet I've been racing for over a minute" style, but that doesn't happen in Grid. You generally start in 8th to 12th place and will have to actually overtake the drivers one at a time. The AI drivers actually react to you and as long as you try to race somewhat realistically you'll end up having great fights. If you're used to ramming as hard as you can that great piece of work will be lost on you. I was like that at first too, at the start of every race I would aggressively ram everyone out of the way, which resulted in a broken car 3/4 of the time, so I would restart the race until I got it right, resulting in frustration and me disliking the game. If you can adjust to racing realistically yourself, It becomes a lot of fun.
The game also goes to some effort to keep the cars relatively close together so there's always battles going on. set the AI to one of the hardest difficulties, force yourself to race from the first-person driver view, and then add controls for looking around and racing actually becomes exciting. Turn on pro mode (no race restarts, no flashbacks), and it's even more intense.
Finally, you get to buy a teammate for your racing team, and if you invest in a good one some racing options will open up. Such as, in a 6-race championship I stayed behind him the entire time, keeping cars behind us at bay so he would get enough points to get him a second place in the rankings, while reducing the amount of points the team in second place would get. This earned my team a double victory for the team and a team win overall (which earns you a lot of money)

First time I played was on the demo lap. Revving from the point I was able to when the light went green i followed all the other cars up to the first bend. I went straight into the back of another car thinking it'd be funny and totalled my car ><

Good game though.

Makes me want a G25 .................. >< not good.

Kinda looks like a cheap piece of crap to me .

I think I am gonna get a G25 soon, all I have is a DFP...but I have an extra set of pedals from a cheap wheel, so I set that up next to it for a clutch pedal.

Uhhh what? Why would this game make you race more realistically...
You could go full throttle and just turn in like nothing. Just because it has damage? Most other then GT do too, and all the computer ones your racing against other humans so unless your playing with little kids its not gonna be bumper cars anyways.

I hope a $300 wheel is better than an $80 one ....

Just acquired it today; does anyone else find it rapes their CPU? I've got a 3.33Ghz (downclocked for the hot weather) C2D and according to the Resource Manager it's using 90+% the whole time. Does everyone get the same?

Saitek makes great products, based on experience, not perception. Saitek > Logitech any day
