Anyway, who would go with "cool" camo over camo that will actually help you blend in...
This is straight up bad-ass camo.

Cant argue that isnt sexy, however non stealthy it is, its still bad ass

Then the camo isn't doing it's job.

What colour do you expect them to paint it, sky blue?Morpheus wrote:

godfather, that paint scheme has been around for nearly as long as aircraft have been shooting at each other:

My point was basically that now a days, camo is rendered useless by radar, and has already been echoed in this thread. True, the sky isn't always blue...TheAussieReaper wrote:

Anyway, I think that plane were actually painted with two camo schemes, one on top one on bottom. The top was an earthy paint, and the bottom was more blue. And then they invented radar, and people went "0mG h4X!!1! H0w u kno wh3re 1 am????"

On-topic: right, a jet going at a speed it should be, I'd have my house bombed before I could marvel at the camo I probably wouldn't see.
why shuld we?
It was painted that way for its final flight only...just retired those bad boys. A modern combat aircraft would never have that kind of paint scheme.GodFather wrote:

As to the OP: It's interesting to look at, but useless as camouflage.

That camo would be quite effective if say you were looking down from above over a mountainous or tunda region, same reason why aircraft often have camo'd topsides and grey, white or blue undersides to match the sky. Also why its not adviseable to use a stealth bomber in the day, big black arrow shape = easy to spot.
Also, it was used to make it difficult to determine where exactly the ship was sitting on the waterline. U Boat crews had a tough time determining the distance to the ship with this type of camouflage, thus making it difficult to accurately lead the ship (on top of what you were saying about how it made it tough to tell the direction the ship was facing).r2zoo wrote:
Given radar didnt really come into play until WW2, makes perfect sense. The whole point was so U-Boats had trouble determining which way the ship was facing/heading, therefore making it alot harder to hit with torpodeos.S.Lythberg wrote:

Yeah that camo is completely useless. If a pilot looked down on it, it would be seen pretty easily. That's just for show, but it's cool looking.
