i understand that but how is someone not going to see a helicopter flying at them in the middle of the day?

that camo would make it very difficult to determine what direction the ship is facing, and make it hard to take shots at long range, it is effective, but useless against radar.

Given radar didnt really come into play until WW2, makes perfect sense.  The whole point was so U-Boats had trouble determining which way the ship was facing/heading, therefore making it alot harder to hit with torpodeos.

Back in the days before radar, when people would actually have to spot planes with their eyes, the camo was actually helpful (blend in with clouds/storms and whatnot). But like someone earlier said, using your eyes is so 20th century.

Nowadays it's special paint that'll help increase stealth capabilities. Has to be repainted pretty often, and is also expensive stuff too.
