what do you think? i've just written quite a lot on the PR forums, so i feel a bit too tired to write everything here again, in anycase in my opinion its the worst change i've ever seen.
totally ruins the mod, makes CQB totally ridicculous (people standing stock still, totally blinded,  randomly shooting at each other at 5 meters, taking seconds to score a hit).
this not considering the effect it has on the lowest rigs. when a bullet hits the ground next to me i'm totally devasted by lag-pc running at like 3 fps; this, added with the normal semi-blindness=loss.
if this effect stays, i'll uninstall Project Reality.

Only played few rounds so far so cant really say how its like at CQB. But long range its great. Since there is no fear of dying in game unlike real life, something drastic had to be done. But I can see how it might be a problem in close quarters when I think about it.

its stupid, bullets dont do that to you in RL. They can keep the explosions thats fine.

It's rather taxing on poor computers. I wouldn't let that stop me however. I'm one tenacious little monkey! Besides, all of the pros of PR outbest the few cons IMHO.

it makes the mod unplayable.

I played it some more and I like it. Sure in RL you dont get vision like that when being shot at, but you do get scared. Even Rambo, Jack Bauer and Chuck Norris duck behind cover occasionally when being shot at. But in game people rarely did so because there is hardly any fear of dying. Now when you are suppressed you are suppressed.
I did have few funny moments in CQB though

Yeah, like if someone is firing a M249 out of a window sill and firing at your position, I should not see you popping up and taking shots to kill the gunner and I should see the other squad outflanking your position.  You guys either have to pop smoke and fall back or outflank the M249 gunner.  Suppressive fire is almost non existant in most games and PR's new effect is way better than the old one.

Of course you wont "black out" in RL when a bullet hits the ground near you. But since the BF2 engine has limitations, the dev team has to think in analogies. The suppression effect itself might not be realistic, but it makes the suppresed player act realistically and that's what counts imo.
Same as the medic's zapper. It does not bring you back from death, its just an analogy for being patched up to be able to shoot again, since when you are "critically wounded" you are not dead, you are just in a condition when you cannot fight.  You cannot build up a bunker with shovels, but the ppl and time needed to build one up is a correct analogy for that.
I say it is a good idea and adds more realism.

I like it and hate it. When trying to be covert spec ops with the silenced 9mm it tells em where it is and for close in counters it sucks but It makes it fell like "Shit I IS GETTING CAPPED" so love it

For the people that hate it, the PR devs are tweaking the suppression effects:
1. Only happens with 5.56 and higher calibre weapons

So you can all stop bitching about pistols/smg's giving off the effect

Confirmed for 0.8

2. Only "activates" after the round has travelled 10-20m

Confirmed for 0.8

So you can all stop bitching about CQB being a little bit frustrating

wow, you know what? before i read this, i thought suppression was retarded but now that i look at it your way *and the fact i have an okai comp* it's pretty sensible.  too bad i already voted against it x_x

TBH I don't mind it too much but if all the fixes that are listed in the link are sorted then it should be spot on...

Hate it. I uninstalled PR for the same reason. I was getting ~8 fps without the damned black out effect, with it, trying to play is just stupid (you can disable it, but Im sure that would not make server admins very happy)

Plus you get a parachute, C4, and 4 slams AND A SILENCED PISTOL. And wait for it....... A GRAPPLING HOOK!!!!!.
Its epic fun to go on normally inaccessible roofs on city maps and harass people. I noticed that most are still not used to checking those roofs.

You don't get a parachute as Special Forces. The grappling hook is accessed with the 9 key. Parachuting was accessed with the 9 key. If you have the same index number (number to pull out the weapon), the game will CTD.

Parachutes were removed from the SF in one of the recent patches. Only pilots have parachutes now. Now don't go splatting on me when flying over Basrah.

MirindoR, I heard suppression will be adjusted in the next patch.

Only issue with supression is that its baised on cilet side FPS

The effect lasts for 100 frames so depending on your comp proformance youe suppresion will last diffrent lengths.

For me on kaskan im at 100+ FPS so its done in a second or so, fools road I drop down to 75 so it takes a little longer.
