I haven't done a photo manip in quite awhile, and I thought I'd do one.
I took this screenshot:

and turned it into:

Comments, suggestions, and criticism are all welcomed.

Like the sunburst effect, you should put it through the 4 windows too

Yeah, but I was trying to give it that effect, the atom bomb going off with a super bright explosion, and everything dark around it.

Light streams though those foreground windows would finish it off nicely.

Yea, I'll try and add some.

Oh and a very mild grain on it when you're all finished looks quite nice, nothing really noticeable, just something to make it look a bit less perfect.

Alright, but first, how's this? I can't seem to get it right. I wanna make the rays vivid enough so you can see them, but not over powering, I'm having trouble achieving that.

lol yeah. I'm using CS2.
I wanna use that horizontal grain filter, under filters > Texture > Grain > Horizontal, but it ruins the entire picture...

I want the horizontal grain, but I don't want the entire picture darkened.

Hmm, possible solution which may not work at all but, duplicate the whole image then apply the filter to the top one then either lower the opacity or fiddle with the blending mode til it looks ok.

EDIT: I got this at 32% opacity, blend mode overlay, I'm sure it can look better with more tweaking, could do with some areas erasing totally.

Makes it way too over contrasted, but I'm sure it can be done.
I'll work on it later, thanks though.

Yeah its just a quick example bodge, you could over expose the original layer so when it gets darkened it goes back to how you want it, it'd be damn fiddly though, PMd you BTW.
