I just started sniping and was wondering if I should put the ACOG scope on my sniper rifles or not. It reduces range and seems to reduce zoom also, but perhaps there is an advantage that I'm not aware of... what do you guys do?
No.
You can put the ACOG on at least some of the sniper rifles (Barret for sure), but tbh I wouldn't bother...
barret + stopping power + ACOG....
For the most part though its not that great, it just makes all the sniper rifle more rifle like...I guess kinda makes a marksman type weapon.

Really if you want a ACOG marksmen rifle I would go for the M14.
I use the ACOG on the urban maps where the massive zoom of the standard scopes is more of a hinderance than a help, that's what it's for anyway, plus you can run and gun like a total psycho if you feel like it (with the semi-autos anyway). On the more open maps you really want to be using the standard scope though.
That's what I use Takes some getting used to but it works well once you get the hang of it.VicktorVauhn wrote:

M21 is just the same once you put an ACOG on it, but with a 10 clip and hits much harder. On hardcore I'd agree and go with the M14 though as big damage doesn't really matter.coke wrote:

I just used the ACOG with my M42 on Strike, it worked well.
I wish you could create-a-class while in a server... it really sucks having to disconnect to change your attachments. I don't want two sniper slots, so I have to choose ACOG or regular

ACOG Scopes suck on Sniper rifles, the red dot is the best for any other weapon.
The stock scopes on most snipers are the best, try the different variants and figure out what suites you ...
Wait behind the line ..............................................................
ACOG on Barrett fucking owns.
Do it.
Do it.
M21 + Stopping Power + Scroll wheel = full auto sniper rifle
Same deal for the g3, epic

you can put an ACOG on the M40

Why would you want to though? Just use the M40 and your good.
yeah but the original scope is better...DefCon-17 wrote:

slightly more zoom makes it harder to reaction shoot someone but you only get a couple shots anyway
Why would you want an ACOG on a snipe rifle? Reduced range, reduced accuracy. It fails.
There are some advantages that I learned today.
* You scope in faster, resulting in higher CQC sniping success. Also, reduced scope zoom.
* Less sway on the scope.
* Less recoil.
* You can see around the scope, so you can see shneeky people trying to get you.
* No need to hold your breath.
So basically, Barrett M82A1 + ACOG + Stopping Power + Deep Impact = FUCKING PWNR MACHINE!!

#rekt
the original sniper scope is better
Different scopes for different types of sniping....tbh.
Actually the sway and recoil are technically the same, it's just magnified less so it looks like it's decreased, being able to see the radar while scoped is a huge plus which I'd forgotten about earlier.mint-sauce-41 wrote:

You shouldn't be in CQC with a Sniper Rifle. Thats what you use your Deagle for.TheEternalPessimist wrote:

Some people like that playstyle, the ACOG helps them with that. You can use your deagle all you want.Johnny_Extremer wrote:

it's a lot more impressive to slam someone in the head with an M40 with a scope than it is to do so with the ACOG...
in CQC of course
in CQC of course
Except Barrett is more accurate and one hit kills.Johnny_Extremer wrote:

At least on HC.
Everything is one hit kills on Hardcore.
Except the lesser pistols, SMGs, some Assault Rifles, the SAW.nukchebi0 wrote:

There is probably others that I've missed.
