I thought "The Patriot" was awful, but maybe you have to be American to see past all the historical innacuracies and blatant bias in favour of America.
Glad to see "City of God" is in the OP it is a brilliant film although really hard to watch at some points. I'll throw in "The Best of Youth", a six hour Itallian epic. Also "Out of the Blue", a small-budget film you've probably never heard of about the Aramoana massacre.
