  • The absolute best pistol grip I've ever used.  extremely repeatable grip (grab it, and it falls into your hands the same way every time.  very good for adrenaline-soaked moments where one may forget to actually use the sights to aim).
  • Mechanically, a little more complicated and 'touchy' than the HK USP.  It's been around for about 100 years, so it's particular twitches are fairly well known (and mild).
I recently read something about the "slimmest" full size pistol. It was not the HP though, I'll look it up as soon as I get home; might be a good choice for female hands.

Considering the Beretta 92,.. it's humongeous (especially the grip, if you don't take the Vertec type), you might as well take a H&K MP5K PDW then.

I don't own a gun because guns are only good for killing. I love instead.

couldn't kill rat at close range .................. you're an idiot .......... accurate yes, deadly even more so
the .22 is considered the dead-lest round, it doesn't do a clean shot, when/if that round hits and enters it ricochet inside epically if nailed in the head

it is the preferred round of hitmen

But its stopping power is inadequate on the torso. If you think a lady in distress can pop a melon like a professional hitman,..

most and I do mean most situations that you would need to pull your concealed carry happens within 15 feet, stopping power does not matter (unless the he is wearing body armour and you have better a chance at the lotto then coming across someone with one on)

.22 in female hands with low recoil and additional rounds in comparison to larger rounds is ideal

Tell that to the lady who shot her attacker 7 times with a .22 before being strangled to death.

Common advice is to use the most powerful caliber you can handle well.  A .45 is not impossible for smaller people to control, and the 9x19 is fairly easy to control...it's all in the practice.

"Knock down power" is very important in SD situations.  You NEED the attacker to stop right where he/she was hit.  Sure, you can kill a person, but how long can they attack you before being incapacitated?  Immediate incapacitation is a must, 1-2 seconds may make the difference (especially at close distances).

9mm with a Hi-Cap 15 round mag and some very hot rounds, who the fuck is going to survive that? you could take down atleast 10 attackers with that combo. get a laser site also, then you don't even need to know how to use a gun, just put the dot on the place you want to put a hole and pull the trigger.

+ the dot will scare some less persistent attackers off by itself.

Since we are not talking body armor, you might as well get hydrashock, which will significantly increase a 9mm stopping power.

I had hydrashocks in a Hi-Cap when I had my SS beretta 92FS, never had the chance to test it out on anyone though
Are those still the most powerfull rounds? I would think by now they would have come out with something better ?>

MarlboroMan,
The Glock is small, concealable and easy to shoot.  The Eagle is small and packs a punch.  I've shot both, I preferred the Baby Eagle but then again, I have big hands, for your wife (who I assume has small hands), the Glock 26 is perfect.

Lai wrote:

Another Glock is also an option. Subcompact Glocks are chambered for .40, 9mm, .357, .380 and also .45. The summum remains the Glock 29, subcompact 10mm auto; very small, very effective and the 10mm has better balistics (more stable bullet trajectory) than the .45
29/26 same size, if you take a subcompact Glock and pick one of the heavier calibres, it packs quite a punch as well.
Depending on her size and strength, not to mention how panicked she may become during an altercation, the 9mm version would be better for control.  All a heavy caliber does is increase the weight, reduce the number of rounds and increase the recoil at the price of stopping power, but personally, I put more weight into precision than power.

He said she was a practised shooter and the subcompacts don't hold that many rounds anyway, I also doubt the general accuracy of a subcompact for the lack of grip and weight, in any case you might want your hits to count. But waht you said is true, it's a matter of personal preferance I guess and ultimately it's up to the lady in question.

Probably, but the question is whether those are allowed However I do believe most recent innovations are on AP ammunition. There is only so much innovating one can do on expanding types of ammunition, they are banned from international warfare and we see a trend that body armor becomes more and more common.

This isn't military use.  Hydrashock and other non-ball ammo is perfectly fine (unless there is some stupid local ordinance).

Mmm...parkerized Springfield Mil-spec...That is a nice pistol!  (A little large for some people to conceal though!)
I'm trying to decide between the Mil-spec, loaded, or a Kimber CDP II for future purchase.  It will not be convenient/legal for me to purchase a handgun for another year, but I've got my eye on one (mostly for range shooting and plinking).

If we had CCW in Kalifornia I would recommend this for my wife

http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/ … sFirearm=Y

Reasoning being

Carry enough to stop the attack, but controlable recoil (9mm or .38)
Revolver as there is no slide to rack and you don't have to remember there's one in the chamber.
5 shots should be enough, if you can't hit them in 5 then they have either fled or got you!

To my mind that adds up to a small, light 5 round .38

$1000 for a 12 oz gun.
$ 700 for a 21 oz gun

I know, but I put is as an argument for why innovation of these types of ammunition is somewhat neglected not for why one shouldn't or couldn't use them. They are fine indeed.
