Which weapon killed more people in history? The question refers to total numbers not effectiveness. Mankind is not allowed.
AK47. That's my guess.
Most manufactured, most sold, most used in politically unstable countries.

bare hands

women.
Blackbelts are just whitebelts who have never quit.
Does religion count?
"people in ny have a general idea of how to drive. one of the pedals goes forward the other one prevents you from dying"
cardiac arrest
rocks
So I guess I'll throw in my $0.02 and take a stab at it: biological warfare, technically. How many indians died when Europeans and colonists settled in the new world and brought smallpox and the like? Betcha you would have never thought of that. Looking to pin some numbers down, but I doubt I'll be successful.

Disease is the greatest weapon in history. It has killed billions and will continue to do so.
AK-47 or Mosin-Nagant.

The growth has been exponential in the gun era.
Swords might still be #1 though.
Edit: These old weapons bring a bit of a problem to the discussion.
We use the specific names of guns in the modern weapons instead of just "gun" but classify all old weapons just by their type.
