I find that do be a very good point. News naturally dwells on the negative rather than the positive, and that goes for most things. We then tend to not give athletes with integrity and class (like Tiger Woods, Tim Duncan, Roger Federer, etc.) the credit that they deserve.

I've seen Iraqi children throw stones faster.

Not to mention when they get the boom strapped to their backsides, they run the 40 in 2.2 seconds, straight into a crowded market..

He happens to be a very good pitcher. Let me ask this, how many fat 3rd basemen, short stops, and 2nd basemen have you seen? While more stationary positions (pitcher, 1st base) are going to have a larger percentage of overweight players. Some overweight 1st basemen may include Prince Fielder and David Ortiz.

Sports is just about money these days. Why the fuck should someone care if they win or not, if they get huge amounts of cash either way? It's not a problem in just the US. It's worldwide. From England (premiership footballers) to even India (National Cricket team). Worldwide problem.

Still, it's the one of the rare things that is actually good to watch on TV. I'm pretty much into everything. Even some Baseball and NFL. Except Basketball, I hate that with a passion.

Another point for T.Pike to just consider it: football (I reject to call it 'soccer') weakens two important joint in every player as time passes by, those are the ankle and knees.
The ankle isn't a joint.
Yes it is. It is the point where two bones connect.
Damn, I apparently wasn't thinking and associated the ankle with the shin. Must...delete...errors!!!

My point exactly - isn't this the beginning of the season?

Isn't this when he should be in the BEST shape?
Uh, he was injured when the transfer took place.  Just because he signed with a new team and it's a new season doesn't mean all his past injuries disappear.
The US Season and the Spaish season cover different times of the year too.  he only finished playing for Madrird a couple of weeks back.

This is why I love hockey.  Yes, we have scandals and issues like all sports but almost every professional hockey player in the NHL donates a lot of their time to charity work.  The Calgary Flames go to the children's wards in the hospitals all the time.  The kids love it and anytime you can give an ill person some happiness it's a good thing.

I've also never seen a fat player actively playing in the NHL.  I think it would be impossible to be fat in that level of hockey.  WAY tooo much cardio!

Barry Bonds is just as dispicable as the little hack using aimbotters in this game..and they need to be banned for life.  Bonds should have been yanked long ago and exposed for his drug use, his name never considered for any hall of fame, and he should be made an example.  Hank Arron is his "godfather."  I'm sure Hank is proud of his cheating god son right now.  And for the fans that stick up for him...nevermind....not worth it.

What's odd is BB says he's never taken steroids.  A book has been written chronicling his use of steroids.  Now if I'm a major league athlete who's reputation is being tarnished by someone what is the first thing I'd do.......   Sue.....  Not one word about suing someone who has damaged his reputation and nicknamed him Balco Barry.

How do you feel about McGuire, Sosa, Palmero? Probably not as harsh as Bonds, as Bonds is still playing and breaking records.

Bonds will be a first ballot inductee into the HoF. There's absolutely no reason to hold him out. He's not Pete Rose ffs!

WTF is going on in the world of Sports here in the United States?

1 – One of the most honored records in all of sports Ohh Please... (I'm just lost for words to express my disbelief someone would write that shit)
is about to be broken by Barry bonds.  Yet the Commissioner of Major League Baseball refuses to attend the games where the record will most likely be broken.  Why?  Because Barry Bonds is a disgrace.  He has never been caught and never admitted using steroids but it’s undeniable.
Do they not test for drugs? Cause they do in all professional sports I know of (watch). If they don't, then who's really to blame?

2 – The National Football League, perhaps the most popular and profitable professional sport
OMG again, get your head out your ass and take a look at the world... yeah, its in that thing called an atlas, notice the other 190 things not called the USA, they exist and are not just some mystical fairy land
is dealing with one of it’s superstars in the spotlight for the wrong reasons.  Michael Vick is accused of running his own professional dog fighting league.  There are witnesses willing to testify Mr. Vick paid off the winners of dog fights in cash with amounts totaling over $20,000.  On a side note how’s Michael Vick’s younger brother doing these days?  There’s another model citizen for you.
They couldn't even convict a double murderer, and as far as I can tell that did nothing so I doubt this will have any effect either.

5 – Professional Wrestling (Sports Entertainment) suffered an incredible blow to it’s image when Chris Benot murdered his wife & child.  This brought to light the number of these athletes who have died prematurely.  In case you missed it, John Kronus, another Tag-Team former Champion died last week.  In his 40s IIRC.
LOL sport... try again.

How are the fans going to react to these stories once all the facts come to light? No one gives a shit... really they don't

Baseball has suffered terribly since the strike and I don’t see their fan-base expanding.  Major League Baseball is in serious trouble my friends.
Only because its one of the most boring games to exist on the face of this earth. I would gladly watch curling over any form of baseball

Soccer?  Soccer?  If I didn’t get it by now I never will.  Soccer is taking over the youth of America though.  Boys, girls, it doesn’t matter, they love it.  Players like Mia Hamm and David Beckham are drawing our youth away from the great American past-time of baseball and its cousin Softball, both High-Arc & Fast-Pitch.
Although not my sport of choice it is by far the easiest (along with rugby) to play informally with a group of friends. The rules can be so easily deformallised to have a fun game with out losing the essence. Not only that it requires dexterity and foot/eye co-ordination over brute strength and speed, so almost anyone of any size can play. Its not called 'the world game' for nothing.

Wrestling now = soft-core porn & soap operas mixed together.
Pretty much
The problem with American Sports is that only Americans like them.

I agree on most points, however I disagree on a few. Our most popular sport here I find the absolutely most annoying and shitty sport known to man: American Football. Slow paced, extremely commercialized (there is as much commercial time as there is gametime), technical (one good point I suppose), and it's over-the-top nature is just fucking annoying. I suppose you could also pass these traits off to NASCAR, which is equally shitty.

Personally, I think our sports suck, and I don't watch them. I used to watch baseball, but that can be obnoxious as well, especially the ridiculous salaries all these athletes make (in all sports as well). I prefer to watch something with a bit more depth and dynamics and continuity. i.e. Golf, Soccer, Hockey, rugby; basically all the sports that weren't invented here. Hell, even tennis has more going on than American football.

I tried to watch soccer once, but all the players kept falling down pretending to be tripped.... American Football is by far the most dynamic sport out there. no where else can you have a sport with a 170 lb guy and a 350 lb+ guy on the field at the same time both dominating at there given positions
