it has a 7 second delay Ken. That means ( if you listened ) approximately 7 seconds of the callers statement you didn't hear. They cut him off and told him “they would contact the police“, You can’t call the police over a difference of opinion. He probably made a threatening remark.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:
Its Bill O'Reilly, straight up.
Further, for the 2nd time O'Reily is “Op Ed” not NEWS
any more than “Fahrenheit 911” is a Documentary. Try and stay current.

I was unaware I said anywhere that Bill O'Reilly reads the news. Can you find it for me?Hunter/Jumper wrote:

How is pointing out that Bill O'Reilly is a main reason people don't like FOX not current?

Neither am I. He isn't worth the time. However, he is the reason I can't stand FOX news. I can tolerate Hannity and Colmes to a point, but not O'Reilly at all.usmarine2005 wrote:

Then again, CNN is hardly news either. When Paris Hilton going to jail is more newsworthy than the G8 summit, etc. something is wrong with the MSM.
I give people who use Fox as a credible source a good rogering, frankly they deserve it. And that O'Rly fellow i invite you to find a post when i have lambasted him...go ahead, good luck....don't let you mind wander too much though, it's far too small to be let out on its own.usmarine2005 wrote:

When people want to know about paris instead of the g8 is disturbing yes, but I bet they had some massive ratings from that which is good business & that's what news organizations are.

On a serious note, I give cable news some leeway. They have to fill 24 hours worth of programming, and they do a better job IMO than local news who only need to fill 30 minutes.m3thod wrote:

Sorry, I would respond with something more smart ass, but I have to go watch my poxy airline being featured on NBC Nightly News.m3thod wrote:

Name the city. Pretty much every inaugural cities were late. Some of it had to do with the press and the firetrucks, but mainly it was to much rushing around.m3thod wrote:

I did like the feature though.

You really have to see it to understand what the fuss is about. It's pretty blatant in its bias.Ace.O.Lamb wrote:
I often see it being attacked by TV shows or other people and i don't see what the deal is with the network. I dont have sky TV nor do i live in America so i don't watch the programmes. Could someone fill me in as to why its such a bad network?
Granted, the New York Times is pretty blatant as well....
That's the point, media is business. The problem is they spend their days reporting on paris and dogs saving their owners, and when people complain they pull out their 4th estate, checks and balances, holier than thou role.TrollmeaT wrote:

A properly conducted media is necessary to a healthy democracy, but most media is just pap and doesn't even deserve the description "journalism".
Put it this way, Jim Lehrer does more to inform and scrutinise than Bill O'Reilly, but who gets all the money and "press"?
There was great article in the Atlantic Monthly a few years ago which pointed out that politicians get scrutinised about what companies they own shares in, and their apprehended or actual conflicts of interest, but when the same scrutiny is applied to journalists they get all prissy and talk about their privacy. Last time I checked some media figures have more effect on what the public think than most politicians, so what makes the media special?
Like usmarine2005 says "sheep". Fox News satisfies the sheep. If you believe what they are giving you is news, you need to read more widely. Watching them and agreeing does not constitute forming your own opinion. Read around, get several points of view, and then make up your own mind. There's this little invention called the Internet that lets people do that type of reading very easily.
Just beware of regarding forums as a source of reliable info ...
