when is reviving/bumping an old thread allowed ?

Unused threads > 1 month, should be closed to avoid reviving

Seeing the revive-spam of old Nancy Bollucks threads here, i wondered:

Should every thread be locked after 1 month being not used with new posts ?

Or should threads older than 3 months all be deleted anyway ?

I'm guessing this is relating to surgeon_bond's reviving of threads? I agree, especially if the threads have been derailed into a gloomy pit of stupidity.

No offence, but that's a fucking stupid idea.

It would just lead to more threads because the last one got closed, and if you care about the forum that much as it would appear, you wouldn't want more repeat threads.

Like when people make a birthday thread, a year on they use the same one. Like when people make a PR thread, it doesn't get used for a while then a patch for it comes out and it becomes a popular subject again, etc.

I think threads should be locked if they are 3 or more months old and no one has posted in them since then. One month is too soon. Threads should never be deleted if they are not in violation of the rules.

I'm sure i could live with any changes Alex. Although reviving has stopped now and people have been banned, i doubt it will happen again for a while now.

why dont admins lock threads after a month and then people can PM the admins if they want to revive a thread and the admins can decide whether their reason is good enough?

this is how it is, people get angry because people make new threads on something thats already done.
so people instead bump old threads and then people get angry at them to.
