Well I first thought that too.
I did this stupid IQ test they did on TV, I scored a 134 at an age of 17, having a few stupid mistakes even. I thought that IQ test was just plain crap and not accurate and that's why I scored 134. However, when they calculated the average of everyone who participated, the average was 101...
So: Maybe I'm just smart
maybe they didn't bothered calculating it themselves and took some results from older tests as it should always be around 100 the average. (and having an average of 120 would make their show look ridiculous unbelievable).
Maybe they made it easy and took an average of 100 so everyone would feel very smart after that.
I know I'm not a 'dumb' guy, I study at the uni etc, I was certainly smarter than some kids in secondary school and in primary school I always got 90+%. But 130+ is considered very smart or 'highly gifted' (don't know if that's the correct translation to english.) So I still consider this IQ test on tv crap and not correct.

I don't study psychology, but I'm pretty sure that most psychologists scoff at final IQ scores. The tests generate various scores for different types of intelligence. Those scores say a lot more than the average can. There are massive differences between people with the same final average. Also, IQ tests have been called racist because of the way some questions relate to life in western culture.
However, Koko the gorilla scored a 90 on an IQ test designed for children. I wonder how dolphins do.

I've done 3 different ones online and the average of them was 131. I currently have a 4.0 (straight A) report card in high school for every class I've taken (I'm in my sophomore year, mostly honors classes and 1 AP class), so I think it's relatively accurate.

I once took an online IQ test (I believe iqtest.com). I received an 174, which was obviously inflated. I do know that I am more intelligent than the average person (I remember being labelled "gifted" in my school days), but I did know it was too high. However, I'd guess that more intelligent people would frequent this forum, or just more liars.
I believe grade point average has very little to do with learning potential. I know quite a few 4.0 students that are dumb as stumps (not that you are one of them). They just study hard and actually turn in homework. I would bet the smartest student at your school is a 3.0 student or possibly lower. It is statistically impossible for all of you to be as smart as you think you are. The bell curve should round out at 100 but for us it rounds out at 121-130.
Additionally, people should remember that there are a wide variety of IQ tests (online) that will give an even wider variety of scores, that there are too many types of intellect for a single test to accurately measure. Some IQ tests (mostly ones available online) even have a maximum score well below that listed in this poll.

I'm being completely honest when I say I never study. Unless it's like a final exam or something that I haven't learned in a while, I don't study. I agree with what you say, but I think the truly intelligent people are motivated well enough to show that they are intelligent. IQ tests on the web are crap.i've taken 3-4 of them and gotten scores between 110 and 140 on them.i'd say they're a bit inconsistant.
According to online IQ tests, I've gone from average to Very Gifted and practically anything else. Online tests=fail, though I did take something like the Stanford-Binet test and apparently I'm "Gifted", but the normal type, not "Very Gifted".
Also, even if I am indeed gifted, I'm still lazy =p even Einstein wouldn't have made all his discoveries if he just sat around eating strudel all day.

Any decent pyschologist can tell you that IQ tests aren't meant to be given to people that have gone through school -especially not to people that have received any kind of college education. If you've got that much schooling, you should be getting high IQ scores. IQ tests are used to determine how well somebody will do in school. Of course most people will be getting over 120 here... I'm pretty sure there aren't many first graders posting on these forums.
