Just got thinking. If you believe in "destiny" or are religious and believe that when someone dies it was because God decided it was the right time to take them, then why take any precautions in life?

If you believe that your death date has already been decided then why bother wearing a seatbelt or using condoms etc?

Because people don't truly believe in it until they face death.

It's destiny after you've completed a long and fulfilling life.  So wear a seat belt and pad up if you're gonna shag a slut.

That's true, no one is willing to take the chance.
It's called self preservation.
No matter what you think you believe, instinct will stop you.

That's true, but then isn't that at least an admittence from the God Squad that they have doubts in their beliefs...

Maybe, but instinct isn't a belief.
There have been and still are many people willing to sacrifice their own life for what they believe.
I personally don't understand it.

Most intelligent Christians I talk to have said that anyone that interprets someone dying as "God's plan" is retarded.

It comes down to free will, as they (theists) say.  I believe in destiny somewhat.  I look at it like a Choose Your Own Adventure book.  The decisions I make and the things I choose to follow in life ultimately lead me to the end.

It is retarded.  Most Christians should see their time on earth as a way to help others find God.  But then, God also gives you free will, he doesn't make you do anything.  If you wanted to die he would let you, your choice. If you want to live, you may have made the wrong decision by then.  It's all caused by actions set in motion long ago. Anything you do determines if you live or die. For instance, drive down the street. Don't die? Good. Now do it again say 11 seconds later and a semi will run straight through you.

Choose your own adventure, just keep your finger on the page and check the bottom of the one to go to so you don't die. I always have to "win" those damn books, never really read the whole thing.

Seeing how god is fake, you die when your old and all of your organs stop working. Not because god took you.

Concur.  I can look back on how I went through certain situations that ended up preparing me for things I would face down the road.  I'm sure several people have had the, "If I had left ten minutes earlier I would not be here now," kind of thing happen to them.  A buddy of mine was late to work on September 11, 2001 through no fault of his own and he's still here to tell the tale.

As far as why to wear seat belts and condoms . . .

God can beat statistics any day, but do you really want to test your luck?  I think that 90% of America claims they are "Christian" . . . I think the percentage of people who walk away from serious auto accidents that didn't wear a seatbelt is much less than that.

As an "adult", I can see why sex should exist only within the confines of marriage.  With two parents and a steady income, it's hard enough raising a kid.  I can't imagine doing it as a single parent working minimum wage jobs and hoping your parents don't kick you to the curb before you can get a job that can support you and your child.

Pretty much summed up a workable answer to the question of it all.
