I remember playing Wolfenstein 3D on I think a 486 at high school (or uni?). The ORIGINAL FPS.

Age has little to do with it. I play with guys that are my age who own all, and others that get pawned. I regularly get done over, but I only play infrequently. When you haven't played for a while, the reflexes fade. Plus familiarity with the keyboard. Try frantically trying to change to pistol in close combat when you run out of ammo, when the bad guy is bunny hopping at you with a knife, and you haven't played in weeks and are struggling to remember which key it is (1, 2, or 3!?!?!!? ... aaarggah!!! ... 15 seconds to respawn ...)

The biggest thing I dislike about BF2 (or non gamepad PC FPSs) is the keyboard interface. It isn't intuitive, which you need under pressure (or maybe it's just us old guys). Halo was so much easier to play with the Xbox game pad, even GTA3 on the PC with a gamepad was easier (and the on foot combat set up on that sucked!!!).

So my excuse is I can't spend 6+ hours at a time playing this game and honing my reflexes to a cutting edge. My 10 hour a day job, and need to keep my marriage alive, interfere with by BF2 time. Which makes the time I can spending it all the more enjoyable.

And respect your mother punk. She gave birth to you, which if that attitude is carried over into real life (rather than playing tough, which I hope it is) means putting up with you currently is probably a more painful experience than giving birth to you.

Simple lesson - you get treated as an adult when you act like one.

I am 33 my son is 14, I beat him at any game we play.

As for the Dads that join in and get 'owned' they are just trying to be good Dads, spending time with you and showing an interest.
They care about you more than any game you might play together.

I don't think age makes a different unless you're 50+ It's like playing golf. My father is better than me but his swing is terrible. He has a lower handicap only because he's got four times as many hours under the belt then I do. Likewise, a guy in our clan is almost 60. He's got more points but terrible accuracy, KDR ratio etc.

Anyway, play and have fun. I don't care how old people I play with are, but i *do* have to say that the most annoying thing I could think of is a squeeling 12 year old joining my squad. As long as you shut the fuck up, you should be fine.

I think the sense of humour etc of the forum has been explained quite well by the poll, most of you guys are quite young.
Im not saying it a bad thing, I was just the same when I was 15-20, just make's alot of the posts I've read make more sense.

You dont become a better or greater person as you get older, but as a general rule you take on more responsability, mature and have more life experience. Which makes f*ck all difference on a game really just shows in the attitude thats shown on here and over VOIPS.

I'm 17, I'll be 18 in less than a month. Personally I don't care about age differences in the game as long as you have a mature attitude. Although hearing some high prepubescent voice on VOip can be a tad annoying.

Skill and age are irrelevant, most guys in my clan are in their thirties and there were some who could own pretty much anyone on the server including me :p
