You are so fucking wrong.  I read it this morning and the thread of usmarine has several days out there.  I posted not for my own agenda, or to get some karma.  I posted coz we don't know how lucky we all are.  If I wanted to prove usmarine wrong I would have posted in his thread, which I didn't.  I thought he was wrong with the title, that's it.

I am not particularly questioning you, but your argument would have been much more convincing if you would have just left his thread completely out of yours.

The chart on the right shows the amount of aid given to developing countries. It is shown as percent of the Gross National Income, so it includes both aid given by corporations and by individuals. The Report notes how the countries of the G7 - the richest industrial countries - dominate the global aid flow. It also notes how the most generous five countries, all above the UNs target of 0.7% GNI, are all small countries - Norway, Luxembourg, Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands who have all "consistently met or surpassed the UN target". Japan has only recently fallen to such a low position (third from the bottom), nearly as stingy as the USA.

Often overlooked is the fact private international giving by Americans is over three and one-half times that of U.S. government foreign assistance. Think about how much money that is considering the US(Government) gives twice as much as the next nation... Put the private and government together and you have an unreal amount of money. Too bad that isn't figured into the UN target.

he didn't do a retaliation, yet somehow the "members of the DST think people should starve and die of AIDS" phrase falls in...weamo8 had it right; just because sergeriver c&p a link doesnt mean he's "FINALLY SOMEONE WITH A SOLID HEAD ON THEIR SHOULDERS." Ad misericordiam aside, siciliano, what makes this viewpoint so much more practical, logical, better, etc. that marine's view???

Well put.  +1.

Not only that, but imo your stats are pointless jahmanred.  Yeah, those countries give a higher percentage... good for them, I guess that make them more righteous.  Fact is, however, the USA still feeds more bellies and keeps more people from starving than any other country, even if the total is a lower percentage of our GDP.

I just find it strange that you are holding the fact that other countries have a pathetic GDP against us.  Face reality.  The US still gives the most, by quite a bit.

^^ I was going to mention all the money that the US puts in research and development which saves millions of lives also, but that would have been overkill. I'm more comfortable giving through private funds myself since they seem to be more effective than just handing money over to corrupt governments.

Yeah, we know, only one percent actually gets there - but one percent of one million is still a fucking huge load of money for those people.

Hey sergeriver... My country is better than your country.

Im just kidding.  Whether this thread has hidden motives or not, you are right.  It is almost impossible to comprehend how easy my life is compared to many.  It embarrasses me to think about how much I complain about stupid shit when people are starving to death and drinking the same water that their livestock.

+1 for making a good point.

So if a poor man forgoes a meal to feed another mouth in need, he is less righteous than a billionaire that feeds two mouths in need? Your train of thought is silly at best.

You dont seem to be reading, or comprehending or something.  I clearly said that those who give a higher percentage are more righteous by my beliefs (the "widow's mite" and that sort of thing).

I am simply saying that, using your scenario, the poor man is more righteous, but the billionaire simply did more good.  This is all pretty simple logic to me, but let me know if you are still confused and I will continue to work with you.
