Hello this is my first time on the forums, and I need some help on picking out the parts for a computer so I can run Battlefield 2 the best way possible. Because I usually have to drive to a pc cafe and pay $3 for an hour and i'm getting a little tired of using up all that money, and I don't really have a budget i'm just not that smart about computer parts. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Don't really have a budget as in you don't know how much one costs, or you have $5000 sitting in the bank?
I have money thats what I mean, it's just that I dont know what kind of parts are the best, I wanna build this computer from scratch and I dont know what kind of parts to get to run Bf2.
AMD 3800 or above. (Processor)
2 Gb RAM
Nvidia 7800GT Graphics Card.
Will be adequate me thinks.

Yeah, becuase computers only need 3 parts to run.Titch2349 wrote:

But those are the only parts that will seriously alter the gaming experience.
get a raptor 10.000 rpm or just a normal 7400 rpm harddrive, but for god's sake nothing below.

Now you need the following so those can all work together
Case (of your choice)
500W+ power supply
Abit or Asus motherboard (my personal preferences as I have never had one fail on me or cause a problem)
SB sound card (doesn't matter which, if your an audiophile then spend the 250 bucks on the big one but the 40 dollar card will sound just as good through shitty PC speakers)
You might also consider changing the processor to a dual core and stepping down the graphics card. You can get an Nvidia 7600GS for about 130 bucks and you don't really lose anything over the 7800 but save 100 dollars.
I personally run the following:
Antec 500W trupower Power supply
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ X2
Nvidia 7600GS video card
SB Audigy 2 sound
2GB of OCZ memory
Abit K8V mobo
if you got the money for it, that machine is BALLIN
That will last for a good 2 years of upcoming games without being heavily updated.
how much is all tha about lolSGT_Squirtle wrote:

You guys are arguing about some stupid crap. Just buy a computer for 2000$ and you'll be good.
