Reading this story, if it is true, Wal-Mart will fuck millions of Indians over by moving their blue-vested freak workers into their country.

We've seen what Wal-Mart did to America, I can't believe they're trying to take over India now too... and the world after that.

Besides their suspect labor practices, poor wages, and lack of insurace coverage for workers?  The answer is that most of their shite is junk, plain and simple.  The garbage they sell isn't even second rate, maybe third rate at best.  The couple of times I shopped there the stuff was cheap, but didn't last.  I would had to have replaced it so many times compared to better made brands that ultimately I didn't save anything.

My GF wanted a digital camera.  We went and checked out pricing at a local shop, but she wanted to check Wally World anyway.  We got there and the same camera was only $1 cheaper.  I said lets go back.  She wanted to know why, as the prices to essentially the same and we were already there.  I told her flat out that I would not support Wal Mart and would pay the $1 difference at the local vendor.

Fuck Wally World, their cheesy ass labor practices, and the garbage they are actually allowed to sell in this country.

At the wal-marts I've been to, the prices were only marginally cheaper. Hardly worth the gas you spend to haul out to MiddleOfNowhere, Maryland.

Destroyed small family businesses through government collusion via massive tax breaks.

No, I'd like a government that didn't use my tax money to fund corporations that take my own business away through unfair trade practices.

Ah, so it's personal. Yes Wal-Mart rapes small family businesses, but with the advancements in data transfer (read: internet) and transportation it was bound to happen sometime. Probably the generation after mine will run almost completely of a few mega corporations.

It can be stopped, you know.  Most of Europe actively aids its small businesses, and so should we.

Entreprenuership is a healthy thing -- oligopoly and monopoly are only privatized versions of Communism.  Instead of giving control to the state, it goes to companies -- who are not subject to elections.

Brave New World will be the future of America if we don't stand up for ourselves.

It isn't the companies that are in control, it is ultimately the people, the consumer. The large corporations may have some advantages from the government, but the fact is even without those they can plain flat give the consumer a lower price for a product, and then the market decides whether the corporation or the small company wins.

In Europe there is a greater feeling of supporting the small business, but from the consumers. Here in America we are all assholes, and don't really care where we get the product only about the price.

This man speaks truth. If we all stopped buying from Wal-Mart and the like, they'd eventually cease to exist.

Well another thing that contributes to why large companies can provide something for less is because they cheat.

They can leverage tax breaks out of the government that small businesses can't.  They mention things like the number of jobs they provide, but the politicians overlook the repercussions of such actions.  America would be more prosperous if more people ran their own businesses.

So, it's not really the market determining trade if the corporations involved get a leg up over their competition through the policies of greedy politicians.

What we're witnessing is not really capitalism so much as it is plutocracy.
