People like you that ask stupid questions.
Don't tell me that people in the U.K don't get stabbed to death or beat to death at that. Hell the Irish are notorious for their Molotov cocktails.

A complete and utter lack of values.
Have too many kids being raised by non-existent parents, so they grow up with no values, and it's not hard to jump to crime with a mentality like that.
I know it sounds cliche, but I think that's one of the biggest problems in this country, that and the huge methamphetamine problem, I swear about 80% of the crime I read about (I only use the net and papers) seem to be related to methamphetamine use.

It's our culture, or lack there of. A country that isn't dominated by one culture is innately doomed. Human beings thrive in societies in which they share a common culture (i.e. customs, ethnicity, history, etc.). For thousands of years, humans have evolved in small communities of similar genetic makeup that had common beliefs/traditions. That's what's most natural/healthy for us both psychologically and sociologically. I'm not saying diversity is bad, but it should be limited. I'm a racialist not a racist and there is a difference! There is a reason that non-Japanese people cannot become citizens in Japan, and Japan both as a country and as a people will last longer on this earth because of it. There should always be a dominant ethnicity/culture on which a nation is grounded if you want a strong healthy culture (Don't you think the situation in Iraq would be going a little better if the country was all Sunnis or all Shiites). America is the antithesis to this. America is all about the individual. There is no dominant culture. Sure it seems great to ignore our differences and all exist harmoniously, but that's idealistic and doesn't always work out so great in reality. There is no unified whole in this country. Everyone individually strives for success (hence the American dream) without any true sense of patriotism. Our media for example cares about it's ratings and money, not what kind of effect it will have on the population. This type of society creates the type of psychological complexes in its people that leads to such problems as higher crime rates. We have few loyalties to each other because we have no unified sense of being other than the fact that we share the same language and laws (pretty superficial). It's an "everyman for himself" type of thing. However as bad as valuing the individual above all else is for a country's cultural well-being, it is the most economically efficient country (hence why America has such a powerful economy and why Communism innately fails). America is arguably the greatest nation on this Earth because of our economy. We depend upon it. Without our economy, we are nothing.
That topic is about whether guns are to blame. This topic is about everything else that can be blamed.ATG wrote:

Erm, are you implying that a single Bosnian immigrant is responsible for for the last few dacades of abnormally high homicide in the US. If you are then I suggest someone should catch the guy.Varegg wrote:

We have a violent culture. Just take a look at how eager so many Americans are for engaging in war.PureFodder wrote:

This is one of the greatest posts I've seen and it seriously underlines what a lot of people think in america when they want to blame someone...say having the User Title "Liberals Fail"...CameronPoe wrote:

But anyways.
I think it's got to do with the overall viewpoint of some people. Like people said, "shoot first, ask questions later."
If you read the hole post my answer was directed at ATG and not your post in particular, but hey why not blame american gun nuts on Bosnia, i can live with thatPureFodder wrote:

Yes the numbers are truly horrifying..
Murders with firearms (per capita)
[*]United States: 0.0279271 per 1,000 people
[*]Ireland: 0.00298805 per 1,000 people
[*]Australia: 0.00293678 per 1,000 people
[*]United Kingdom: 0.00102579 per 1,000 people
Not really the epidemic the news might make your believe. Keep the odds in perspective.
If you want to see a real problem try looking at South Africa where it is getting close to 1 out of 1,000
South Africa: 0.719782 per 1,000 people
Americans should be more concerned with the 500,000 people with cancer. 200,000 die each year from the treatable/preventable kind. It amazes me how we lose focus on the obvious problems because the news media chooses to spend more time on the random actions of a lunatic.

And you still fail to counter the fact that somebody automatically says " stupid American ", when in reality the killer is a Muslim immigrant who was traumatized by violence in his home country. Who knows how many people he killed, or saw killed there.Varegg wrote:

Americans are generous people, and the people from Bosnia immigrated here during their war are just average people who happen to be Muslims.
I'm not saying the guy killed because he was a Muslim, why are you so quick and unapologetic to say " stupid Americans " when he aint even a goddamned American at all, except recently?

You are completely right. I never argue about that, I only start arguing when people claim guns dont mean more homicides, the facts and figures just show that that is bullshit.Kmarion wrote:

Good points... I think our fatty diets and lack of exercise are much bigger killers than guns or violence in general.Kmarion wrote:

But the short version is and have always been i dont look at Americans in general to be stupid but as cameron was stating murderers was to blame i stated that the stupid part of the american population was to blame ..... cause i guess the smart ones would think about the consequenses before pulling the trigger.
And why is that exact phrase so much fuzz ? ..... dont you have stupid US citicens ? ... or is it low selfesteem that makes you think the rest of the world have this view of every American ?
