This what will happen if the government fails to have a immigration policy.

This is not the way things should be; National Guard troops on duty at the border without weapons, instructed to retreat when confronted by Mexican military  cross border incursions , border patrol agents in jail for shooting at illegal alien drug smugglers.

What happens when the government fails to do it's job?

Citizens decide to do their version of it.

Timothy McVeigh decided the government had failed in Waco Texas and look what happened.

Now, you have self proclaimed patriotic Americans executing illegal aliens at the border.

Although it may turn out that it was a Coyote transaction or drug deal gone bad, this has all the indicators of a civilian law enforcement action taken to the extreme.

We need a solution to the border and we need it now.

No, they were primarily in trouble for the coverup.

But then, we've had this discussion before .

Yes

I can't believe not just Bush but politics as a whole in America essentially ignore the issue in comparison to its magnitude.

You said that right. There is no policy, aside from the occasional round up. No real plans though. It's one of the things with this administration that really blows my mind.

But then, we've had this discussion before .
EL PASO, Texas (AP) -- A former U.S. Border Patrol agent who was convicted of shooting a drug smuggling suspect and then lying about it was beaten by fellow inmates in prison, his relatives and a congressman said Tuesday.

Prison officials did not immediately confirm that Ignacio Ramos had been attacked.

The convictions of Ramos and fellow former agent Jose Alonso Compean sparked outcry from critics who argued that the men were merely doing their job defending the border against criminals.

U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., a vocal supporter of the agents and opponent of illegal immigration, criticized the Bush administration Tuesday for failing to protect Ramos and demanded a full presidential pardon for the two men.

"Not only did the administration choose the side of a foreign dope runner over the agents who stopped him from smuggling a load of drugs into the county _ now they've failed to protect that agent while his case is on appeal," he said in a statement.

I'm sympathetic to the idea that lousy governments cause citizens to support radical violence. Almost all muslims live under lousy governments and a hell of a lot of them passively support anti-US attacks. But actual violent radicals who blow up buildings with fucking day-care centers in them, like Timothy McVeigh, are just pure mentally ill assholes. If the U.S. government had done its job, I think McVeigh would have found another excuse to commit mass murder.

Frying them as they try and cross doesn't seem too temporary... But if you stop the flow of incoming illegal immigrants then you can focus on the ones that are already within the border.

There is as much evidence to suggest McVeigh worked for the U.S. government, as there is to suggest they and Mossad knew about or committed 9-11.

Good points though.

Nope.  But fact is, those are the realities of prison.  If he didn't want to be there, he shouldn't have lied.

They are already dying as it is trying to cross the desert. If there is a chance for good work they will risk it. Take away the jobs and it takes care of both problems.

Do you have a better idea of protect the US's southern border? Because if you do, please let's hear it........

I doubt that will work. It's already illegal to hire an illegal immigrant for a yob... I mean job. But there will always be a hotel somewhere that needs a cleaner and doesn't care who they hire...

the only reason they get jobs is because some people are too cheap to pay for the amount of work they want done.  alot of mexicans work in restaurants where the employers dont have to pay them benefits like in most other jobs. maybe if they really payed line cooks and restaurant workers for what they are worth and gave them benefits, which they wont, cuz they cant afford to, we wouldnt have this problem.  just my .02 cents

Crap. Immigrants are suffering needlessly.

02/08/2007
US immigration officials insisted the sufferer of an anal infection remove a small piece of medical thread which was being used by doctors to treat the condition. The man required treatment under general anaesthetic as a result.

The man had an anal fistula, which is a painful channel that can develop deep into the anus, caused by infection or digestive conditions such as Crohn's disease.

Arriving on holiday in New York in August last year, the unnamed 48-year-old was interrogated and searched by immigration officers, according to a letter appearing in medical journal The Lancet. The rectal examination discovered a device called a seton, which doctors in the UK had inserted into the fistula to help control long-term infection.

The seton was made of a blue braided medical suture material knotted and passed into the hole where the fistula surfaced. After one baffled immigration officer pulled "very hard" on the seton, the patient was given the choice by the baffled immigration officers of either getting on the next plane home, or submitting himself to a procedure to have it removed.

Happily, as The Lancet's correspondent notes, the curious immigration officer yanking the seton did not damage "the anal sphincter muscles encircled by it".

The seton was duly removed by an airport doctor, who claimed to have no idea what it was. The man now requires treatment under general anaesthetic to have a replacement inserted.

The letter writer concludes by advising seton patients to carry a letter from their doctor when travelling "to the USA or any other country where they are likely to be searched in this manner".
