Everybody doesn't like President Bush, it's not cool, I better change my opinion, because I'm not in touch with everyone else, Ok. You lose that debate.CameronPoe wrote:
I didn't say I hoped he would - I said he 'might as well' - pretty much everybody apart from a few folks like you seem to be against him these days. Like Steven Colbert likening Bush to Rocky - "Bush would be Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed would be ... er ... everything else in the world". Gotta love that American humor! Colbert kicks ass.(T)eflon(S)hadow wrote:

George Bush might as well stick a magnum in the roof of his mouth and pull the trigger.
And there is no hope of him doing that.
Why do you feeble minded foreigners' that have nothing better to do than talk shit about the US President, on an Internet Forum, that is US based? Why? Because you don't like the Man? Fine, but hoping the man would commit suicide, because thats what you created in your ego driven forum reputation sick mind? Pathetic. Now go please tell me how stupid I am, for defending Our Commander in Chief. Please go on and on! You want a serious Debate and you start off the conservation like that, well there is my response.
You start this topic off with the assumption that the US Senate said no, and assuming that the President of the United States does not have the power to send the US troops in battle with out the "OK" of the Senate, then he has nothing better to do, then he " might as well" commit suicide. Again Foolish Foreigner, posting his big ego on a internet forum. All you did was piss off a few Americans, state your small minded concept of the end of President Bush's life and get a few karma from members. What did you contribute to this forum by making a Serious and Debatable Forum post, I ask? I'm sure your writing a response right about now....

ummm, i can only assume the massive brain wash you endured during whatever basic training you went to has done a good job at making you act like a robot. The chain of command IS irrelevant, the president is a "fucking" civilian for a "fucking" reason hence we can bash the shit out of him all we want if he fucks up You do remember this isn't a monarchy? Or do you want to compare this douche to a king whom presides with no equal?(T)eflon(S)hadow wrote:

The mighty Bush speaketh bow down mere mortals for he is...dun dun dun THE COMMANDER!....... IN CHIEF!!
They have just turned a scraped victory into another Vietnam. And in doing so, shafted British troops still out there.
Someone should put them on trial for the deaths that result from this, and the fanatics taking power after they move out.
They don't play enough videogames. A situation like this is where I would apply more forces to try and force a win, albeit one at high cost, instead of just leaving.

It does seem a lot like that.Fen321 wrote:

The blind following of authority is very reminiscent of active monarchies.
Who is blindly following?
Monkeys with astronaut suits on. I hear they blindly walk into space shuttles
LOL what the phuck are is your point genius? I clearly made a point that this guy is making a post that he obviously knows nothing about the balance of power that the [Civilian] Commander in Chief, of the US Armed Forces. The fact is, we have approved the troop increase, the boots will be on the ground, and more over the Senate can say no, however the President can still authorize the increase, by either his call of giving the US Commanders what they ask for.Fen321 wrote:

So I ask you in all your infinite wisdom, how were my Drill Instructors', so powerful to make me act like a robot, after graduating from boot camp-- nearly 10 years ago?! (Actually I am honored that my text sounds so "robotic" or dedicated to being who I am. If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.)
Lots of people apparently.usmarine2007 wrote:

The typical response from Bush's supporters when his authority is called into question, seems to be: "Fuck you he's the president", not the most robust line of argument. Very rarely are his political achievements cited as reasons why he should be given respect, merely the "He's the president, he should be respected" dogma.
What about non Bush supporters who do not think someone should say "might as well" put a gun in his mouth and pull the trigger?Bertster7 wrote:

Didn't the Russians use a dog? Or think about using a dog? I swear I saw that somewhere.Fen321 wrote:

Yeah, they used a dog in their program. Poor thing lasted all of a week in space before it starved to death.usmarine2007 wrote:

Back on topic: So what, this is a non binding document by a senate committee. These things are just about as effective as UN resolutions.

Making any statements without some sort of rationale behind them is simply stupid.
Sounds like their military in the late 80's.mcgid1 wrote:

So, if I went to a British, Irish, German, Finnish?, or Swedish forum and said their leader might as well put a gun in his / her mouth, I would not get yelled at?Bertster7 wrote:

The point he was trying to make was that he may as well not be there for all he can do now. He didn't literally mean he should kill himself.usmarine2007 wrote:

But if I had said that in one of those forums, would I not get yelled at? You don't have to answer, we all know what the answer is.ghettoperson wrote:

No. You'd probably get a lot of people agreeing with you. It all depends on how good the leader in question is, although even the good ones take a fair amount of flak.usmarine2007 wrote:

No. We would get yelled at. As Americans we need not to piss our neighbors off. Who the hell do we think we are? When compared to European and the rest of the world, we are all just a bunch of fat, brainless simpletons. Only those across the Ocean are allowed to be smug and derogatory while looking down their noses while drinking tea and great beer. [/sarcasm]usmarine2007 wrote:

With respect to the line about being able to criticize political leaders... Before Saddam was removed -how did that whole citizens criticizing their leaders thing work out?
I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something. - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.
Of course you would get yelled at by someone. People tend to have different opinions. The only way you'd resolve that is by going to an anti-Blair (for example) forum, because most forums people tend to have different opinions.A good deal more would agree with you though, especially if it was a British forum.usmarine2007 wrote:
