We say that in Australia too. Pop and Soda sound weird down here.Cheez wrote:

Isn't "pop" how you address your fathers? "Hey Pop" and all that?
Soda is a powdery substance - baking soda, etc. Ask any Irishman about Soda Farls/Bread.
Coke, Dr Pepper, lemonade, they are collectively known "soft drinks". At least that's how it is where I come from.

Pop, anyone that says Coke is stupid because not all soda is cola.
Soda. I'm from California, currently living in Michigan (college) and it's mostly pop here, but soda still has a strong showing, albeit less than pop, but nonetheless, I say it's Soda!

I just call it something to drink...... I live in MN and they say pop but I'm originally from DE and they say soda.
its both, depends where you're from
It all depends on where you are from. I was born in NY and raised around a northern family, so I call it pop. I now live in florida, down here they call it soda. Its mainly a regional thing...
Fizzy.
Or "Soft Drink" when I'm being professional.

In these parts, soft drink or fizzy drink. Soda is something else, usually mixed with vodka
I'm from the northwest, tis Pop here. At least it isn't Coke for all brands like it is in Georgia...
It's called soda or coke (no matter the brand) down here in Texas.
If someone orders a pop at a restaurant, they get a weird look, and then everyone in the restaurant knows that they're from up north.

you coke motherfuckers are on lsd or something. its clearly pop. Canada. Brapppp
Its soda. For clarification, usually states that are more eastern (like New Jersey, the best state ever) say soda and the dumbasses that say pop usually can be found migrating west.
Neither. Soft drink FTW!
If I had to use a generic term, I'd use pop.

Pop sounds like something Jimmy Stewart would say, Humphrey Bogart would say soda.
